Background of the issue:
I am trying to ensure that my American website fortuny.us does not show categories that exist on my main domain fortuny.shop but not on fortuny.us. An example of this issue can be seen at hidden link.

Symptoms:
Categories that do not exist in the American version of the website are still visible, which is problematic as these items should not be shown in the US. I expected to see a 404 error or a redirect, but instead, I see categories from the main language.

Questions:
Why are categories that do not exist in the American version of the website still visible?
How can I ensure that non-existent categories show a 404 error or redirect elsewhere?

Hello,

1) In order to expedite handling your support requests, can you please share WPML support debug information from your site.

- To give debug information, login to your site and go to WPML → Support. From there click on the “debug information” link at the bottom of the page.
- Once on the “debug information” page, select the entire content of the text box and copy it.
- Now go back to our support forum, find debug information box and paste it.

2) I am trying to check the shared link, but I am redirected to hidden link?

Is this correct behavior now or?

Links like these are still accessible:

But this is a category which have been deleted in that language.

thanks for getting back.

I have tested from our side on test site, and this works fine. If there is no category in 2nd language, the URL is not loaded.

I am not sure, how are you creating this category, is this default WC product category? If not, can you check from WPML > Settings > Taxonomy translation, you have set it to Translatable Only.

Otherwise, please check if you are using some kind of cache system and it is cleared, maybe it is showing old cached version of page.

this is what i see (please see attachment).
This page is still existing in the domain fortuny.us and it should not because that translated cateogory has been deleted

As you can see here, the wpml dashboard suggests "Add" in the Daphne category for the language English USD, ad it does not exist. But online, it's published! Why?

thank you for getting back to me.

I understand the issue you’re experiencing — that’s not the expected behavior.

1) I mean that I get a 404 Not Found page when I try to open the same URL in the second language.

2) As mentioned in my previous reply, this could be related to your settings or cache. Please review my earlier suggestions and let me know the results and if that helps.

If not, then I can suggest further and we can do the next steps and try to debug the issue.

The cache systems were deleted multiple times in these days, even a few seconds ago, and the issue is still there. You confirm please that when you visit:

you don't see "Daphne | Long Evening Coat" "No products were found matching your selection." ?

I can see the issue on your side, but I’ve tested it on mine and it doesn’t happen here, so it seems to be something specific to your setup.

Please prepare a staging site (a copy of your live site) where we can safely investigate and run tests without affecting production. Once ready, share the access details in a private reply.
