Background of the issue:
I am trying to make changes on one of the pages and expect the update icon to appear for all translated languages. I use the classic translation editor.

Symptoms:
When I make a change, the update icon does not appear for pages. The translator on the left side shows the default language as the old version, even though the updated version is visible on the frontend and in the text editor. This issue does not occur with WooCommerce products.

Questions:
Why does the update icon not appear for pages when changes are made?
How can I fix the issue of the update icon not appearing for pages?....

Hi,

Reference to our recent chat, if troubleshooting options and deleting translations of the problematic page doesn't fix the issue, then please prepare a staging or dev site by copying your live site. So I can investigate in more detail and find a solution.

I've enabled your next reply as private to provide the access to the staging/dev site.

IMPORTANT: If you don't see the section for providing access information, do not write in the message box or the information may appear as public.

See https://wpml.org/purchase/support-policy/privacy-and-security-when-providing-debug-information-for-support/ for details on privacy and security.

Regards.

I think i found a bug!

All pages that were previously created with Elementor and Elementor PRO have this problem. I published new content on the same URLs with the wordpress editor that were prevously Elementor pages. I did not delete those pages and create new ones with same urls, even it that would probably fix this issue. Pages that were created subsequently do not have this issue. Although I have deleted Elementor and its data this problem is still there. Is there an option to fix this without republishing the same pages on same urls?

Please try to recreate this and let me know how to fix it.

Have a nice day 🙂

Thank you for the updates.

Looks like there was some residue from the Elementor, when pages were created using it while later on, direct edits didn't fully override.

I've tried to reproduce the problem but without any luck. However did you try the WPML troubleshooting options? These can help fix such data ambiguities, as I mentioned during the chat.

IMPORTANT: Please take full backup of your website and database before trying the said troubleshooting options.

Other than this, I've also created a fresh sandbox site at hidden link (one-click login). I've setup WPML with Classic Translation Editor and Elementor as well.

Please take some time and it'd be great if you can recreate the issue and provide the steps about how it can be reproduced. I'll try my best to find out a solution.
