Hello,

I have created a test that includes the essential plugins for recreating this issue and I have a successfully translated author card on my posts.

I would like to ask your assistance to try to recreate the issue on this site with an example content, that is similar to the content of your website.

Here is the link to the test site.

Please leave me a short message on this ticket once you can run this test.

IMPORTANT:
Take note that this issue could be related to the Houzez Theme. I might need your cooperation here, by installing the latest version of the theme for testing purposes.

Best regards
Andreas

Hi,

I haven't been able to replicate the bug on the test website. I did the exact same steps as in my website but here it's working well.

I use a child theme, pegged to the latest version of Houzez managed by the Envato plugin: hidden link

I have created a staging version of the website for troubleshooting purposes, your credentials are the same:

Thank you for your support.

Best regards,

Damien

The issue persists on your staging when testing a minimal setup while using only the most essential plugins and a default theme.

I can not confirm that you tried to recreate the same issue on the test site and I am not sure how the affected content was created.

Please go to hidden link

How did you manage to display the information on this theme template?

Hi,

Here's how I did it both on my live & staging websites and this test website:

1. I first filled the Bio on the English version of the author in the backend:
hidden link

Here the Bio is "test bio ENGLISH"

2. In WPML > String Translation > In domain: Authors
I look for "test bio ENGLISH" and create its equivalent translation in German.

3. It works, when switching from English to German: hidden link

I did the exact same thing on my website.

Thank you for your support.

Best regards,

Damien

No, you are displaying the string on the author template of the theme, not on a page.

Your site:

Sandbox:

I can not find any option on the plugin that forces this behavior.

How did you achieve that?

I think it's from the theme I'm using, Houzez, a real estate theme.
I've created an author and linked it to an agent ID, so what you see is actually an "agent" page fetching the author informations.

I can see the issue on your staging, also when switching to Twenty Twenty-Four.

On my sandbox, I can not see the author's info:

Please try to recreate the issue on my sandbox, as I am sadly not aware of how those strings are getting displayed on the author page when using this plugin.

It looks like this might be a bug from the plugin itself, I don't see why the information couldn't be displayed on the author page.

Can I share your test website with their support for troubleshooting please?

BTW, the bug I'm contacting you for also happen for the "author boxes" on my website, not only the author page.

Yes, please proceed by using this sandbox as a reference.

It would be really helpful to obtain a second opinion from the plugin support or the author itself.

When it comes to the "Author Card" I can not confirm an issue with translating the author description on my test, but, in both languages, it does not display other info, like company, etc. and this is also the case without having WPML active.

Hi, so I actually uninstalled the aforementioned plugin.

The issue remains the same.

I asked the developers of the theme I use (Houzez) to check on their side, here's their reply:

These words are not coming from the Houzez theme. It is coming from the WP user profile description of the author biography field. hidden link Please ask the WPML plugin support about this, and how to translate it. It is the WP default functionality not related to the theme.

FYI, these words are already translated from the WPML >> String Translation section but not showing as translated on the front end.
hidden link.

Can you please check why WPML is not serving this translation on my website?

I would like to offer to have another look into this, but the earlier provided credentials are no longer valid.

Please provide access again. The private reply form is enabled.

It would also be very helpful if you could send us the WPML information for troubleshooting.
