A few month ago I needed to the form fields of the Divi Engine Formbuilder and your support advised me to use the XML Configuration. But now the developer registered the fields and I could use the String Translation what is more comfortable. How can I undo the XML Configuration?

I tried a new thing.

I saved all forms to the Divi Cloud.
Deleted all of them on the page and also on the library.

Deleted WPML Cache.

Deleted all related strings in the String Translation.

Restored one form from the Divi Cloud.

Opened the ATE for one Language.

Saved it.

Scanned Strings.

Edited one String in the String Translation.

But still the old Translation is coming up.

Is there a way to delete the translation memory?

What else can I do?

Hello there,

I understand you wish to remove our solution, to apply your own. In this case, you can go to WPML > Settings > Custom XML Configuration and remove the custom XML that was suggested in the previous ticket. After that, it's necessary that you make a small update on the pages that contain the registered elements, so they use the new changed setting.

Please note that we've already provided a recommended solution, and it's our official response to the issue you're having. If you have any issues with your custom solution, I recommend you use the on we provided.

What is your official response to that?

Hello,

I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understood the question. Let me share my understanding of the situation:

You had a previous issue (https://wpml.org/forums/topic/translating-the-divi-machine-von-divi-engine/), that was solved by Andrea's suggestion, to add the custom XML. This is the recommended way of solving the problem. This is the solution we provided.

Now, on this present ticket, you want to undo the recommended solution, and apply your own (based on what you shared, applied by your dev). It seems that the 2 solutions are conflicting. In that case, you can remove the custom XML and try your own solution.

Do you still have any questions?

Thankyou for your answer!

Yes. The official answer works.
But it leads to fields like this in the ATE

%91{%22value%22:%22Not specified%22,%22checked%22:0,%22dragID%22:-1},{%22value%22:%22Roman Catholic%22,%22checked%22:0,%22dragID%22:0},{%22value%22:%22Orthodox%22,%22checked%22:0,%22dragID%22:1},{%22value%22:%22Protestant%22,%22checked%22:0,%22dragID%22:2},{%22value%22:%22Reformed%22,%22checked%22:0,%22dragID%22:3},{%22value%22:%22Presbyterian%22,%22checked%22:0,%22dragID%22:4},{%22value%22:%22Anglican / Episcopal%22,%22checked%22:0,%22dragID%22:5},{%22value%22:%22Baptist%22,%22checked%22:0,%22dragID%22:6},{%22value%22:%22Methodist%22,%22checked%22:0,%22dragID%22:7},{%22value%22:%22Pentecostal%22,%22checked%22:0,%22dragID%22:8},{%22value%22:%22Charismatic%22,%22checked%22:0,%22dragID%22:9},{%22value%22:%22Evangelical%22,%22checked%22:0,%22dragID%22:10},{%22value%22:%22Mennonite%22,%22checked%22:0,%22dragID%22:11},{%22value%22:%22Non-denominational%22,%22checked%22:0,%22dragID%22:12}%93

So it is very complicated to translate and in one case there was an issue I couldn´t fix.

So I asked the developer of the plugin and finally I convinced him to make his plugin compatible to WPML. Which he achieved by putting the XML configuration into the folder of the plugin, as I understood so far.

So now the strings can be scanned and found in the string translation - and they are much easier to translate now.

So I think this is like the official response to fix it but even a little bit more "official" and sustainable because it helps all users.

But now I have difficulties to undo the xml configuration set in the Settings of WPML. Whatever I do, the fields still appear in the ATE in the previous way. I followed all the advices by MaAIya.

For testing I added another language and even if the fields appear the same in the ATE, I could edit them in the String Translation.
But for all old languages I can´t edit in the String Translation.

So because there is one issue still not fixed and because the client want to have a lot more languages I want to switch to the solution where I can edit the fields in the String Translation.

Can you help me with this?

Hey there,

First and foremost, String Translation is meant to be used to translate admin and global texts, that do not belong to any specific post. If the text is coming from a post/page it should be translated in ATE. I'll check what can be done so the texts do not appear encoded inside ATE.

Please share the link to a page where I can check the issue directly.

For this, I would like to look at this directly on your site. For this I would need temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to your site, preferably to a test/staging site where the problem has been replicated if possible.

The required fields can be found below the comments section. The information you enter is private, i.e. only you and I can see it and have access to it.
I may need to replicate your website locally. To do this, I need to temporarily install a plugin called "Duplicator" or "All in One WP Migration" on your website. This will allow me to create a copy of your website and content. Once the issue is resolved, I will delete the local website. Let me know if this works for you.

IMPORTANT

Please make a backup copy of the site files and database before giving us access.

If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields, this means your post and site login details are being made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details if you do not see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this:

I tried a lot again and again like doing small edits, deleting cache, removing xml, scanning string translations, editing string translations.
I am not sure what helped in the end.
