Hi there.

Before this ticket gets assigned to one of my colleagues, I will try to help.

I am not sure when you had the chat session and what was the exact error but can you please share a bit about that in there, too?

Any extra information or screenshots with the error, any explanation of the exact steps that you are taking and what you are trying to accomplish, will help us better understand your issue and help us move faster with the ticket.

I'm also activating the private fields for your next reply so that you can share site access, as you mentioned.

Thank you.

Mihai

Hello,

Our apologies for the delay in answering your request.

It looks on your site as if WooCommerce is not respecting the admin language preference setting.

It looks as if this issue disappears once I disable the plugin "WP Activity Log".

I will try to recreate this issue on a test site and then get back to you.

Best regards
Andreas

Hello,

I appear not to be allowed to access the settings page of WP Activity Log on your site.

I have created a test site, but for now, the issue is not replicable here.

Could you please make sure that on this test site, the WP Activity Log plugin uses the same settings as on your site?

Hi Andreas,

done. Check please.

I have seen today that even with WP Activity Log plugin disabled, the Elementor plugin interface also displays some text in German.

We seem not to be able to replicate the issue on the test site.

I additionally installed Elementor on this test site and I can not confirm any mixed up strings.

If you could please visit the sandbox, revise the backend, and let me know if you can replicate the issue?

If the issue is not replicable I would suggest that we try to delete the compiled language files (.mo files) at /wp-content/languages/wpml on your site and test if this can solve the issue.

These .mo files will be recreated by WPML after having been deleted.

Looks like the problem's solved. I deleted the custom files woocommerce-en_US.mo and woocommerce-en_US.po from the directory /wp-content/languages/woocommerce.

Thanks for the tip!

I am glad to hear that this solved the issue!

Maybe it might solve the issue with Elementor if you do the same with Elementor's .mo-files. If not, please let us know.

Hi Andreas,

I have 2 questions:

1. Which files exactly can I delete? There are .mo and .json files in the directory
For example .json:
- elementor-de_DE-file-name.json
- elementor-en_GB-file-name.json
and other languages.

.mo files:
- elementor-de_DE.mo.
- elementor-en_GB.mo
and other languages.

2. What will be affected by deleting the files and will they have to be generated again?

The JSON files are needed to translate JavaScript:
https://make.wordpress.org/core/2018/11/09/new-javascript-i18n-support-in-wordpress/

We partially support the translations of those files. This will be fully covered in a future version of WPML.

The .po & .mo files are needed to translate PHP.

To recreate the .mo-files go to WPML > Support > Troubleshooting and use the button "Show custom mo files pre-generation dialog box".

After a few seconds, a dialog should pop up that will ask you to generate the files.
