This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The 'Table of Contents' widget from a third-party plugin is removed from the alternate language page every time automatic translation is updated.
Solution:
If you're experiencing this issue, we recommend using the Block Editor for editing your posts. You can enable this by navigating to the admin area, then to Settings > Page Builder > General, and unchecking the 'Use Classic Editor for New Posts' option. For posts currently using the Classic Editor, please follow the steps provided by SiteOrigin support to convert them to Block Editor. You can find the guide here: Converting to Blocks.

Please note that this solution might be irrelevant if it's outdated or not applicable to your case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket at WPML Support Forum.

Hi,

I have question regarding this part

https://wpml.org/forums/topic/automatic-translation-layout-issue/#:~:text=Regarding%20the%20widget%20Table%20of%20Content%2C%20it%20is%20a%20widget%20from%20a%20third%2Dparty%20plugin%20so%20you%20will%20need%20to%20edit%20the%20translation%20page%20in%20Thai%20language

It is about the "Table of Content" widget. It gets removed from the alternate language page every time automatic translation is updated. Sometimes, automatic translation runs even if I don't update the page. Then, the table of contents widget disappeared on its own without my knowledge.

It is getting frustrating. How can I prevent this issue and make it appear on both language pages after running automatic translation?

Hi Myo,

Thank you for reaching out to WPML support. While you're waiting for one of my colleagues to handle this ticket, let me offer you some initial debugging steps to assist with the issue promptly.

It could be a compatibility issue between WPML, SiteOrigin builder and LuckyWP Table of Contents. In order to escalate the issue, please help us replicate the issue on a clean installation of WordPress. You can access the admin area directly with this link

Kindly follow the steps below:

- Don’t restore your site there.
- Install SiteOrigin and LuckyWP Table of Contents plugins.
- Try to replicate the issue with minimal steps.
- Then let me know the steps to replicate it.

Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks

Those widgets (button & image) actually come from the "SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle" plugin, a sub-plugin of "SiteOrigin Page Builder.".

Now, I've setup a post on the sandbox site. You'll need to enable automatic translation for this issue to replicate. This is not a new issue and you are the same person on the post I am referring. So, I assume you know how to replicate the issue.

Hi,

I can replicate the issue on the sandbox site. I've escalated this issue to our Compatibility team and I will update you here when I have something to share.

Thanks.

Hi,

I got some information from our 2nd tier support. The widget "Table of Contents" works if you use the Block Editor when editing the post.
We suggest you go to admin area > Settings > Page Builder > General > Uncheck the "Use Classic Editor for New Posts" option.

For the current posts that are using Classic Editor, please follow the suggestion from SiteOrigin support to convert them to Block Editor.

Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks

It doesn't work. It is still showing as a missing widget even after converting to the block editor.

Hi,

The Table of content section is displayed in the frontend as well, in both languages English and Thai. Can you please check this again?

Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks

Of course, I noticed the issue and I re-added those widgets. Are you expecting me to leave my site broken just to show you?

It "looks" broken but still works properly in the frontend and admin area. You can also add other content to the post and save changes.
Even if you deactivate the WPML plugin on your site, it still works like that with the Block editor.

You can test this on the sandbox site that I shared above

Thanks.
