This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client wants to remove WPML from their site and is concerned about whether they can revert the changes by restoring from a backup after following the WPML documentation.
Solution:
If you're planning to remove WPML and want to ensure you can revert back to your original setup, we recommend taking a full backup of all your files and the database. As long as your backup includes the WPML plugin files and the database with all WPML settings and translations, you should be able to restore everything to how it was before the removal.

Please note that this solution might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If this does not resolve your issue, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Hi there.

Yes, you can restore to a backup and have everything as it was because the WPML settings and the translations are saved into the database. So, as long as you have the backup that contains the plugin files and the correct database that contains all the information, then you should be fine.

I hope that you will find this information helpful.
