This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are experiencing an issue where the category link in your breadcrumbs points to the wrong language. For example, despite the post and category being in English, the breadcrumbs link redirects to a Spanish category. This issue affects multiple categories across your site.
Solution:
We recommend installing the WPML SEO plugin, which should resolve the issue with the incorrect language links in your breadcrumbs. You can download the WPML SEO plugin from here.
After installation, verify that you have the latest versions of all your themes and plugins to ensure compatibility and functionality.

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, please check the related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/ and confirm that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, we highly recommend opening a new support ticket with us for further assistance.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to fix an issue where the category link in my breadcrumbs points to the wrong language. For example, this post is in English: hidden link and has an English category. You can see it because it shows here in the category page: hidden link. It is the first one on the list.

Symptoms:
In the breadcrumbs, I expected a link to the post category in English: hidden link. Instead, I got a link to the Spanish category. This happens for all posts in this category and 4 other categories out of the 12 categories the site has.

Questions:
Why does the category link in my breadcrumbs point to the wrong language?
How can I ensure the breadcrumbs link to the correct language category?

The crazy thing is that it was also happening for another category and now it is magically fixed for that one. I opened another ticket about 30 minutes ago and I closed it. However, I have realized now that it is happening with another 4 categories. I have no idea why the previous one was solved out of nowhere. But the crazy thing is that whatever it was it didn't solved the rest of them.

Thank you for contacting WPML support.

Could you please let me know how you added the breadcrumbs to your site? Do I understand correctly that this issue only occurs for those four categories?

Have you also tried temporarily disabling all plugins except WPML to check if the issue persists?

We added them using Yoast SEO.

Thank you for providing the details.

I noticed that you are not using the WPML SEO plugin. Please install it, and the issue should be resolved.

WPML SEO:

You can check the latest released versions under "My Account -> Downloads" on this site.

You can also install it from Plugins → Add New Plugin → Commercial tab.

That solved the issue. Thanks a lot!

Do we have to take something else in to consideration after installing this plugin? Does it change anything else?

I’m glad to hear that it’s working.

There’s nothing else you need to configure. Once activated, the plugin ensures full compatibility between WPML and Yoast SEO — no additional setup is required.
