This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client was experiencing an issue with incorrect spelling in their website's contact form where the word 'Telelefono' was misspelled and needed to be corrected to 'Telefono'. The client was using WPML and the Houzez theme.

Solution:
1. We instructed the client to navigate to Theme Options > Translation > Property Details Page > Contact Forms > Phone to find the text for edition.
2. We clarified that the text in the main language comes directly from the Houzez theme options and is not connected with WPML.
3. We advised the client to edit the translation by going to WPML -> String Translation and searching for the string 'Teléfono'.
4. We asked the client to test if the issue was resolved on their end.

If you're experiencing a similar issue, we recommend you follow these steps. However, please note that this solution might be irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your case. If after trying these steps the issue persists, we highly recommend checking related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Should you need further assistance, please open a new support ticket.

Hi there.

Before this ticket gets assigned to my colleagues, I will try to help.

I will continue the ticket in English because you posted in the English forum, hope that's ok for you.

The proper way to translate strings depends a lot on how they have been implemented inside the theme/plugin.

IMPORTANT: Sometimes, there are even duplicates of the same string and only one of them is the correct one that needs to be translated.

Also, sometimes, simply removing the string (checking the box and removing it) and then re-registering it again by scanning for it (one of the methods below) and re-translating it resolves the issue (sounds like you did this already so let's focus on finding the duplicates that are still NOT translated).

1. Method 1:

Go to WPML > String Translation and at the bottom of the page you will find a checkbox called "Look for strings while pages are rendered". You can enable (check) that and then go in the front end to a page where you have that string showing up and then go back to WPML > String Translation and search for that string and see if it now shows up.

2. Method 2: If you can't find them inside the WPML > String Translation, they might be added as admin text.

This should be the normal process to find and translate admin text strings:
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/finding-strings-that-dont-appear-on-the-string-translation-page/

Please let us know how that goes.

Kind regards,
Mihai Apetrei

Hello there,

I sincerely apologize for the back and forth, however, I double-checked the screen record you shared and I'm having trouble trying to identify the issue.

It seems like in the screencast that you shared that there's a person explaining how to locate a string, change its language and translated it.

The person ends the video by showing how the strings are showing up correctly in the main and secondary language of the site.

Can you check if that is the correct link?

Could you please elaborate a little more on this issue, so I can better understand? E.g. Is there an error message, what are the steps you've tried, etc.

Thank you and sorry for any inconvenience, please let us know.

Mateus

Hello Manuel,

Thank you for providing us with that information.

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take better look at the issue. Our Debugging Procedures

I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.

Hello there,

Thank you for sharing those details.

I was able to find that text for edition going to Theme Options > Translation > Property Details Page > Contact Forms > Phone.

Please notice that this text in the main language comes directly from the Houzez theme options and has no connection with WPML.

You can edit the translation by going to WPML -> String Translation and searching for the string 'Teléfono'.

Can you please test it again to see if the issue is fixed on your end as well?

Thank you, please let us know.
Mateus
