Background of the issue:
I am trying to complete page translations using WPML. I encountered issues when translating long articles with internal links. Here is a link to a page where the issue can be seen: hidden link

Symptoms:
The progress bar does not reach 100% after completing all segments, indicating unstarted segments. Alternatively, the progress bar reaches 100% but fails to complete and save the translation.

Questions:
Why does the progress bar not reach 100% even after completing all segments?
Why does the translation fail to complete and save even when the progress bar reaches 100%?

After switching back to the previous version, it was found that it was the translation of the inner links that showed unfinished. Then now the previous version is also unable to complete the translation. After clicking Finish, the translation icon still shows a “gear” instead of a “pen” which actually means the translation is finished.

Hi,

Welcome to WPL Support. Would you please kindly follow the steps below to provide the debug information?

- Go to "WordPress Dashboard > WPML > Support > Debug Information (Link)".
- Copy the Debug Information from there.
- Get back to this chat screen and scroll down.
- Find the "Additional Data" section below. (Check the screenshot below)
- Click on the "Debug Info" item to expand it.
- Paste the debug information into the text area.
- Click the "Send Debug Info" button.

That will help me to understand your setup and see if there is something that can be checked.

Also, I wonder if you can check the method below, to see if the problem is appearing from a third-party plug-in inner links or not.

- IMPORTANT STEP! Create a backup of your website. Or better approach will be to test this on a copy/staging version of the website to avoid any disruption of a live website.
- Switch to the default theme such as "TwentyTwenty" by going to "WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > themes".
- Go to "WordPress Dashboard > Plugins" and deactivate all plugins except WPML and its add-ons.
- Check if you can still recreate the issue.
- If not, re-activate your plugins one by one and check the issue each time to find out the plugin that causes the problem.

Finally, I'd appreciate if you go to WPML > Support menu and go to the advanced translation editor error log.

Please share whatever error you see there with a recent date. That might help us to know why, after the translation the gear icon shows instead of the pencil icon.

I've paste the debug info. And the "gear" issue looks like solved now. Here's another problems.
1. In the screenshot of the translation of “RCc Flat Roof System TP-4” into "RCC-Flachdachsystem TP-4", after clicking on the tick box to save the translation, the progress bar advances and then immediately recedes to the unfinished translation.
2. In the advanced translation editor error log, there are two error records of "ATE Server Communication, Service Unavailable", what can I do with that?
Thank you.

Hi,

I'm glad that the initial issue is fixed. We usually ask the customers to open up a new ticket/chat for the additional questions, but I will try to help fo this one.

The minimum requirement is 128M but I suggest that you increase it to 512M: https://wpml.org/home/minimum-requirements/

You can add this by adding the code below to "wp-config.php" file of your WordPress installation root folder:

/** Memory Limit */
define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '512M');
define( 'WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT', '512M' );

Please add the code above the line below:

/* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

If the issue persists, I'd appreciate it if you could give me the URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard after you make sure that you have a backup of your website.
It is absolutely important that you give us a guarantee that you have a backup so if something happens you will have a point of restore.

Make sure you set the next reply as private.

For your information, I will be off tomorrow and the day after, if you need a faster turnover you are welcome to open up a new ticket/chat:

Thanks.
