This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client wants to delete all English translations and their duplicated media to start fresh translations as the site has completely changed.
Solution:
If you're looking to delete all translations in a specific language and start over, we recommend removing the language from your website. This action will delete all existing content in that language from your site's database. Here are the steps to follow:
1. Ensure you have a full backup of your database before making any changes.
2. Visit the WPML documentation on Deleting Languages and Plugin Data by Doing a WPML Reset on Your Site.
3. Follow the instructions to remove the secondary language and all existing translations.
4. After removing the language, you can reactivate English on your site.

Please note that this solution might be irrelevant if it's outdated or not applicable to your case. If after checking the related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/ and confirming that you have the latest versions of themes and plugins, the problem persists, we highly recommend opening a new support ticket. Hi,

Thank you for contacting the support.

Meanwhile this ticket is attended by one of my colleagues, I'll recommend checking https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-delete-the-translation-of-a-page/ about deleting the translation of content. The same method you can follow for the media.

Regards.

Hi Waqas

Thanks for your reply.
I am aware of that solution. Unfortunately (especially for the duplicated media) it is difficult to really know which media belongs to translations and which not - that will risk to delete the wrong media and lead to more problems.
I was hoping for a simpler solution that would delete all (in my case) english media versions wothout have to double check every image (there are many)

Thank you
Pascal

Hello Pascal,

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to follow up on the article that my colleague shared with you. It is still accurate, or you may want to consider removing the English language from your website. By doing so, you can delete all existing content in the secondary language(s) from your site's database.

To accomplish this, please visit the following URL: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/deleting-languages-and-plugin-data-by-doing-a-wpml-reset-on-your-site/#step-1-remove-the-secondary-languages-and-all-existing-translations

Once you have removed the language, you can activate English again.

I hope this helps. Please backup your database before making any changes.

Hello Andrey

Thank you, this is the kind of solution I was looking for to have a clean new start on the translation without having to worry of old duplicates and clogged database

Cheers
Pascal
