The problem is on the site hidden link. The users had new German pages translated, imported the translations and they do show up in translation management, are 100% finished, but you cannot add them as pages as it used to be. Whether they click on the + in the pages overview or in the German page itself, the only thing that happens is that you can see the translation, compare with the German, save or save and exit, and that was it. Before if you clicked save and exit a new page in the language would be created. Now it doesn't. If one clicks duplicate a new page is created, but it has only the German text and none of the existing translations. If you work with multiple windows open, an editor window to save the SEO info from Yoast and the page title, one could get around that by using the browser's back button after creating the duplicate page and renaming it, to get back to the translations and save them to show up on the page. The SEO info translation will have vanished in the process however, that is why it needs to be copied to an editor before, so it can be copied and pasted from there. That is a quite cumbersome way of creating translated pages and certainly not how it was before. What might be wrong there? What further info do you need?

Hi Lukas,
Thanks for contacting WPML support.

Please create a full backup of the database and website then go to WPML > Support > Troubleshooting page, and click the following:

- Clear the Cache in WPML
- Remove ghost entries from the translation tables
- Fix element_type collation
- Fix WPML table collation
- Set language information
- Fix post type assignment for translations

Then make a small change to the original page, update it, and resave the translation.

Let me know please if that helps.

Kind regards,
Mohamed

Hi Mohamed,

thanks for your suggestion. We tried after updating WordPress, Theme, and all Plugins yesterday. When I wanted to see if the translations would now show up as file again, they had gone. Probably due to one of the steps you suggested?

The customer pays for these translations, they are done by Textmaster. So today, contemplating what to do, they sent me the xliff files for the missing translations. When trying to upload them into WPML however, I received an error message, "Import failed! The uploaded XLIFF file does not belong to this system." (I translated that from German, so maybe the translation is not 100% exact.)

How can I get me translations back so I can test that your solution really worked before they have an more pressing page that needs translating?

Kind regards,
Lukas

Hi Lukas,

This error means that WPML can't match the translations with the original content. You can edit the XLIFF Files received from Textmaster to match the updated ID then upload the the files again.

Please follow the steps mentioned in the following doc: https://wpml.org/faq/the-uploaded-xliff-file-doesnt-belong-to-this-system/#how-do-i-edit-the-xliff-file-to-match-the-updated-id
