This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are unable to add a new custom language to your site, as the process times out despite increasing the max execution time.
Solution:
If you're experiencing this issue, we recommend you follow these steps:
1) Update your WPML plugins to the latest versions. Go to Plugins > Add New > Commercial and click “Check for updates”. Please ensure you create a backup before updating.
2) Disable Reds object cache and attempt the process again.
3) If the problem persists, try switching to a regular WordPress theme instead of a custom one to rule out any issues caused by custom code. You can do this by switching to a WP default theme and checking if the issue still occurs.

If these steps do not resolve your issue, or if the solution seems outdated or not applicable to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If you still need assistance, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

I have not had an issue loading a custom language in the past. Please could someone assist ?

I have also previously created a ticket on this issue and no one has gotten back to me after a week.

Hello,

Thanks for contacting us.

While you wait for my colleague to take over the ticket, let me try to help you with the issue quickly.

1) Go to Plugins > Add New > Commercial > Click “Check for updates” and update WPML plugins to latest versions.

Please make sure to create a backup, before doing any actions, just in case.

2) Disable Reds object cache and try again.

3) If still issue you can try using regular WP theme not custom one, as there could be some custom code there causing this:

- Switch to WP default theme
- Check if the issue still happens.

Let us know how it goes and if that helps.

Regards,
Drazen

Thanks, I have tried this.

Unfortunately to no avail. It just keeps loading and loading and then nothing happens. I tested this out on staging and staging loads a language fine, albeit a bit slow.

In production I am able to make minor updates to languages but that is about it.
