Hello,
I am using Toolset Types with WPML.
My WordPress user's language is set to German and my dashboard is translated to German except Pages string
When I disable Toolset it's working but when it's activated it's not working at all

As we discussed in chat, I have created a test website with a clean WordPress install. You can access it through this link:

Are you able to reproduce the issue there?

Please note that we only need the plugin and the related functionality, you don't need to setup a entire website or clone your existing site.

Hi,

Are you able to reproduce the issue there? No on your test site it works fine.

There is another issue that might be realted with the problem. When I translate the CPT Products to German and Russian in String Translations it does not translate it in the Admin part on the right side. As you can see I'm logged with language German and all on the right shows German except for Pages and Products - but Products is also translated. You can see it on this video I created for you: hidden link

Thanks for your help

Hi,

We reproduced the issue on your test website.

We changed the user admin language to spanish
In the dashboard Pages changed to Páginas
We then go to Toolset: Tipos de Entrada
We choose Páginas - and we save it
We go back to the User and change him to English
Dashboard changes to English - except Páginas does not change to Pages and also Toolset stays in French in the Dashboard.
The same probably happens when you save Media
And we probably cannot Translate the CPT Name Products (video in the last message) for the same reason.

Here the video to show how this happens: hidden link

Let us know what we can do about it.

Thanks

...."and also Toolset stays in French in the Dashboard". - That part should not be there

Hi,

Thanks for contacting.

However we reproduced the same bug on you test website two days ago.

I documented how the bug happens on your test website with screencastify - I linked to one of my last messages.

Is there a need to go on our website?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

OK so here I write it again - it seems you did not check the test server:

Hi,

We reproduced the issue on your test website you set up for us and think it is a Toolset Bug.

- Change the user admin language to spanish
- In the dashboard the word Pages change to Páginas - correct
- We then go to Toolset and click: Tipos de Entrada
- We choose: Páginas - and we Save it
- We go back to the User and change the language to English
- The Dashboard changes to English - except Páginas does not change to Pages - BUG

The same probably happens when you save Media or Posts using another language.

And we probably cannot Translate the CPT Name Products (video in the last message) for the same reason.

Here the video to show how this happens: hidden link

Let us know what we can do about it.

Thanks

Hello,

Thank you for the updates and sorry for the bit of waiting. Initially I read:

Are you able to reproduce the issue there? No on your test site it works fine.

This is why I asked the access details in case the issue was reproduced in your website only. After keep reading the details, I see the issue is also reproduced in the clean sandbox website, sorry for the missed minor details. As regarding the issue itself, I could reproduce it and confirmed it, here are the details of my tests:

1 - I see the 'Paginas' is a default WordPress post type which toolset is overwriting its label, I tried to set the label as english then use string translation to translate it to other languages, however, the labels doesn't seem to be registered to be translated and most likely because it is a core post type which should rely in the core language files available with WordPress. I see in your case your custom post type is not being translated as well.

2 - The Toolset Dashboard in my tests are keeping the language defined in the user profile, so, no issue for this case.

I will consult my colleagues from the second level support for more details regarding it and a possible issue escalation. I will update you here as soon as I have some more details regarding it.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. Have a nice day.

Hi

Thanks - but I'm not sure if you got it right - and there is somehting else.

The Dashboard language in the Admin must never be changed except for when you change your user profile langauge.

Toolset "bugs"

1.) When I go in Toolset > Post Types and edit a Post Type to add a Taxonomie or whatever and save it - then the Post Type will be saved in the current user profile language - and will be displayed in the Dashboard in that current language - no matter what the user porfile language is.

Example:
In my user profile I have set the language to French
I go to Toolset> Types de publication (Post Types) > Articles
I now untick Etiquettes
I save it
I change my user profile language to English
In the Dashboard Articles should change back to Posts but it does not. And this happens with any Post Type.

Here the bug on video: hidden link

2.) My user language is Spanish. I register a new custom post type - and of course a Spanish Person would register it in Spanish and then Translate it to the other languages on the website. In my case I would then later translate it to English and French.

Toolset however does not respect that and expects you to put a new custom post type in English language whatever your current profile language is.

I then cannot translate the custom post type to English as it says Productos in the English

I can translate the slugs as you can see in the video

hidden link

3.) Now when changing the language in the Dashboard it changes the Custom Post Type to the language I have translated it - it does not change when selecting English as it is registred as Productos and Spanish translate to Productos - but when changing the language in the Dashboard to French - then the Custom Post Type changes to Produits.

This must not happen ever - the Dashboard language must stay in the user language selected.

Please check here: hidden link

I have invested hours into this problem now and one of my programmers too. Can you please come up with a solution quick to being able and deliver our website to our client without behaving like that.

Looking forward to hearing from you - also a free year of subscription would be the least for the work we have invested in this - we would call it bug...

Looking forward to hearing from you with a solution.

Regards

Sven

Hello,

Thank you for you patience while waited a for a reply and sorry for the long waiting here. I took a detailed look at our internal issue tracker and noticed this is a reported issue which was escalated to our developers for a permanent fix, however, the development seems to be stuck for a while.

Also, I see this similar ticket in our forum: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/language-of-post-type-custom-fields-and-taxonomies-dont-switch/#post-5312395. Now, I am trying to get some more details from our second level support team and if we would need to escalate it to our developers again. I will update you here as soon as I have these details.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, have a nice day.
