This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
If you're setting up translations and notice that clicking through the NL translation of your website results in an internal server error, it might be due to a plugin conflict.
Solution:
We recommend disabling the "LinkMaster" plugin temporarily to see if this resolves the issue. This plugin might be clashing with WPML as both try to control how page URLs are handled, leading to random 500 errors on first page loads. If disabling LinkMaster resolves the issue, and if your primary use of LinkMaster is for creating redirects, consider switching to the Redirection plugin, which is regularly updated and maintained.

Please note that this solution might be irrelevant if it's outdated or not applicable to your case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket.

It seems that those errors disappear once the plugin "LinkMaster" is disabled. Could
you please give this quick test and let me know if my findings are correct?

In the meantime, I will try to replicate this issue on a new test site and try to find out what's causing those errors.

Possible causes:
These random 500 errors usually happen because LinkMaster and WPML both try to control how page URLs are handled, and sometimes they clash. On the first load, LinkMaster’s redirect or rewrite rules can interfere with WPML’s process of figuring out the correct translated page, which causes the server to fail.

When you reload the page while showing a 500 error, WPML has already set its language information, so the conflict doesn’t happen and the page loads fine.

In short: it’s a timing issue where two plugins fight over the URL, and the reload works because WPML wins the second time.

IMPORTANT:
Warning: The LinkMaster plugin has not been tested with your current version of WordPress. The plugin has not been updated for 8 months.

Suggestion:
It seems that at the moment, you are only using the LinkMaster plugin to create redirects.

If this is your only goal, and you do not plan to actually use other features of this plugin, I would recommend using the "Redirection" plugin.

This plugin is still maintained and receives regular updates.

Yes, that was the solution! I removed the LinkMaster plugin and installed the Redirection plugin to make the redirects. Works perfect! Thanks for your help!
