Background of the issue:
I mainly use automatic "tag sync" proposed by WPML to sync the tags for my 2600+ products on my site hidden link.

Symptoms:
Tags for the page hidden link are incorrect. In French, the tags are 'aile, automobile', but in English, they are 'sea, sun', which seem to belong to another work.

Questions:
Is there a way to make a resync without having to do it manually for each one?

Hello,

Welcome to the WPML support forum. Before passing this thread to my colleague, I would like to share some suggestions and possible solutions for the issues you mentioned.

Please try the following troubleshooting steps after a full site backup{mandatory} and make sure the issue exists or not.

1) Upgrade to the latest version of WPML (4.7.4 series). You may have to visit Plugins>>Add New>>Commercial tab and click on the *Check for updates* button to get the WPML automatic upgrade links of the latest version. This step will help us refresh the installer caches.

2) Go to WPML>>Support page, click on the Troubleshooting link (blue link in the middle of the page)

3) On the Troubleshooting page, please click on the following options of the *Clean up* section. Wait for confirmation of processing after each one.

- Clear the cache in WPML
- Remove ghost entries from the translation tables
- Fix element_type collation
- Set language information
- Fix WPML tables collation
- Assign translation status to duplicated content
- Fix terms count
- Fix post type assignment
- Cleanup and optimize string tables

4) Clear all types of caches

Thanks!

I found that some XLIFF have tags translation inside, and others don't.

As I cannot join XLIFF file, I cannot show you. I checked WPML Settings tags are set to translatable.

<trans-unit resname="product_cat" restype="string" datatype="html" id="t_2990" extradata="{&quot;unit&quot;:&quot;Product Cat&quot;,&quot;type&quot;:&quot;text&quot;,&quot;group&quot;:&quot;Main Content\/Taxonomies&quot;,&quot;group_id&quot;:&quot;Main_Content-0\/Taxonomies-0&quot;}">
<source>Produits pharmaceutiques</source>
<target>Pharmaceutical products</target>
</trans-unit>
<trans-unit resname="product_tag" restype="string" datatype="html" id="t_2508" extradata="{&quot;unit&quot;:&quot;Product Tag&quot;,&quot;type&quot;:&quot;text&quot;,&quot;group&quot;:&quot;Main Content\/Taxonomies&quot;,&quot;group_id&quot;:&quot;Main_Content-0\/Taxonomies-0&quot;}">
<source>asiatique</source>
<target>mustache</target>
</trans-unit>
<trans-unit resname="product_tag" restype="string" datatype="html" id="t_2338" extradata="{&quot;unit&quot;:&quot;Product Tag&quot;,&quot;type&quot;:&quot;text&quot;,&quot;group&quot;:&quot;Main Content\/Taxonomies&quot;,&quot;group_id&quot;:&quot;Main_Content-0\/Taxonomies-0&quot;}">
<source>barbe</source>
<target>mustache</target>
</trans-unit>
<trans-unit resname="product_tag" restype="string" datatype="html" id="t_2359" extradata="{&quot;unit&quot;:&quot;Product Tag&quot;,&quot;type&quot;:&quot;text&quot;,&quot;group&quot;:&quot;Main Content\/Taxonomies&quot;,&quot;group_id&quot;:&quot;Main_Content-0\/Taxonomies-0&quot;}">
<source>bouteille</source>
<target>mustache</target>
</trans-unit>

In this file, my translation is bad, but I can translate the tags.

In a lot of other files, I don't have them.

All of my product have tags.

How should I go ?

Hello,

I apologize for the delay in responding. I will take care of this ticket; the reply time will be shorter now.

First, apply this suggestion:
https://wpml.org/errata/translating-many-taxonomy-terms-in-a-taxonomy/?utm_source=chatgpt.com

Then try this:
• ❌ Please make a full website backup before proceeding ❌
• Go to WPML → Taxonomy Translation → Choose “Product tags” → Hierarchy Synchronization → click “Update taxonomy hierarchy”. This forces WPML to re‑assign every tag across languages.
• Next, open WPML → Support → Troubleshooting and run “Synchronize post taxonomies” for Products.
• Purge server/Site‑cache and resave permalinks.
• Bulk update others via WooCommerce → WooCommerce Multilingual → Products → “Synchronize”.

Best Regards,
Otto

I don't have - Hierarchy Synchronization
in : • Go to WPML → Taxonomy Translation → Choose “Product tags”

I don't have neither:

• Bulk update others via WooCommerce → WooCommerce Multilingual → Products → “Synchronize”.

Other steps are done

Hello,

Thanks.

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue.
It would be better to a testing site where the issue is replicated.

The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.
Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I'll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site.
This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content.
Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site.

**IMPORTANT**
- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields.

Best Regards,
Otto
