Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate custom WooCommerce tabs using the plugin from hidden link, which is supposed to work with WPML according to the FAQs. I expected to see the same product tabs as in hidden link, but with translations on hidden link. I also created a duplicate of the product and used 'duplicate all content' to the other page before translating as troubleshooting. I don't want to manually edit the tabs, they should automatically work with the translation editor. I previously gave also backend access, please see the already closed topic https://wpml.org/forums/topic/translating-custom-woocommerce-tabs-gone-missing/#post-17478685.

Symptoms:
The product tabs are missing, even though they get translated in the editor. The tabs aren't getting translated or copied into English and are not configured in the English backend site of the product.

Questions:
Why are the custom WooCommerce tabs not appearing in the translated version of the product?
How can I ensure that the custom tabs are automatically translated using the translation editor?

Thanks for your reply.

I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.

Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.

Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.

✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.

Thanks for your reply. I can see the issue now, and it looks like a compatibility issue. Could you please replicate the issue on our sandbox site here?

I've installed the WooCommerce and WCML plugin for you. hidden link

Hi Kor,

thanks for setting up the sandbox. I did install the tab plugin from barn2, and created a tab.
The tab itself gets translated correctly, but another the issue remains:
When I overwrite a tab in english, and use the translation editor to translate the tab in german, it shows the default translation and not the overwritten translation I've put in the translation editor.

I've tested this with a default theme too on our inonet-page, so it can't be the theme incompatibility. I've used "Health & Troubleshoot" plugin to keep all plugins and themes deactivated - issue still remains on our end.

Thanks for your reply. It looks like you're having two issues here.

1. Missing Tabs on the translated page.
I will need to escalate this, I kindly ask for a snapshot of the site. Alternatively, with your permission, I can create one myself. For this purpose, I typically recommend using the free plugin "Duplicator." If you're already familiar with Duplicator (https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/), please skip the following steps and simply send me the archive file you downloaded.

To guide you further, please adhere to these instructions:

1. View the Duplicator instructions video: hidden link

2. Consult WPML's instructions on providing supporters with a copy of your site: https://wpml.org/faq/provide-supporters-copy-site/

3. If the archive file exceeds 400MB, please use Duplicator's file filters to exclude cache, wp-uploads directory, media, and archive files.

Once you have the archive file ready, kindly share the link with us. You can utilize platforms like Google Drive, Dropbox, or similar for file sharing, as the snapshot file might be large.

Please note that your next reply will be private, visible only to you and me. You can paste the file link there. Rest assured that once the issue is resolved, I will delete the local site.

2. The tab contents on the translated page do not show the translated contents.
I've split the ticket here https://wpml.org/forums/topic/translated-tab-contents-not-showing-in-translated-product-tab/ so that we can follow up.

Hi Kor,

I have the backup ready and excluded everything I could, but there is still user data from clients who bought products. Is there a way to let you sign an NDA for that, or can I just remove the wp_users table as well, and you will create one?

(please reactivate the private message for my next reply, thanks!)

Thanks for your reply. Yes, please just remove the users in the wp_users table and leave the admin account there. It should be enough. I've enabled the private reply option for you.

Thanks for your patience. I believe the solution to fix this is similar to this ticket https://wpml.org/forums/topic/translated-tab-contents-not-showing-in-translated-product-tab/#post-17616262 . Could you perform a full backup? I'd like to implement this fix directly on your production site.

Or maybe you can clone the site to another staging site so that I could test the workaround?

Hi Kor,

thanks for the update! This looks promising.
Will this empty all tabs in different languages after changing slugs?

If this does not affect the current state of the products, you can do that within the production environment, I have already created a backup.

If it somehow removes texts or tabs, we need to inform the client he might need to re-edit products.

Thanks for your reply. Since I can’t guarantee the outcome of applying the workaround, it would be best to first get permission from your client or carry out the change during low-traffic hours. This reduces the risk of any unexpected disruption.
