This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are trying to translate a post in WordPress using WPML and expect the Dutch translation to be published with the icon changing to a 'pen'. However, the icon remains a 'wheel' even though the translation is at 100% when saved.
Solution:
We recommend duplicating the specific post and then attempting to complete the translation for the duplicated version. If the issue persists, it may be due to content that should not be included in the translation. Follow these steps:
1. Remove one section from the duplicated post and update the post.
2. Try to complete the translation.
3. If the issue persists, remove the next section and update the post again.
4. Test the translation once more.
By following these steps, you should be able to identify which specific section is causing the problem and determine whether it contains any extra or unexpected data.

If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If further assistance is needed, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate a post in WordPress using WPML. I expected the Dutch translation to be published and the icon in WordPress to change to a 'pen'.

Symptoms:
The translated post is published, but the icon remains a 'wheel', even though the translation is at 100% when I save.

Questions:
Why does the icon remain a 'wheel' even after the translation is complete?
How can I ensure the icon changes to a 'pen' after publishing the translation?

I think the above text is inccorrect, sorry. The translated post is NOT published, and the icon remains a wheel.. it's the same problem I raised a ticket like a month ago

Thank you for contacting WPML support.

Please upload a screenshot of what you see under WPML → Support → Advanced Translation Editor → Error Logs.

Does the same issue exist with a newly created post? What are the results if you temporarily deactivate all plugins except WPML?

Remember to back up your database first before you proceed.

this is the error. When i translate another post, it works, so it seems to be only affecting this particular post (similar to the last time i had the issue). Deactivating the other plugins has no effect.

Thank you for your feedback.

I’ve checked the specific translation job for this post and noticed that it contains custom CSS code, for example:

<style>
  .hero-container {
    width: 100%;
    max-height: 800px; /* pas aan naar wens */
    overflow: hidden;
    position: relative;
  }

  .hero-container img {
    width: 100%;
    height: auto;
    display: block;
    object-fit: cover;
    object-position: center;
  }
</style>

I recommend removing all custom CSS and HTML from this post, then updating the post and trying to complete the translation again.

It’s generally best to place CSS at the theme level (in your theme’s stylesheet or through the Customizer) to prevent potential issues with translations and page rendering.

Thank you for your feedback.

I need to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site—preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible—in order to be of better help. When you log in to leave your next reply, you will find the needed fields below the comment area. The information you will enter is private, meaning only you and I can see and access it.

Thank you for your feedback.

I recommend duplicating that specific post and then trying to complete the translation for the duplicated version.

If you are still unable to finish the translation, it likely means the original post contains some content that is being sent to the translation editor but should not be included.

In that case, I would suggest reviewing the post again and testing by removing all custom HTML or CSS (or other unexpected content). Based on what I saw earlier, the issue may stem from multiple sections of the post.

As another troubleshooting approach, you can test this on the duplicated post. If the duplicate still has the same problem, try removing content section by section and attempt to complete the translation after each change. This will help identify exactly which part of the post is causing the issue.

Here is the process:
1. Remove one section from the duplicated post and update the post.
2. Try to complete the translation.
3. If the issue persists, remove the next section and update the post again.
4. Test the translation once more.

By following these steps, you should be able to pinpoint which specific section is causing the problem and determine whether it contains any extra or unexpected data.

I hope this helps.
