This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is unsure how to publish a post after adding a translation using the automatic translation feature with the setting 'Let me review it before it gets published' enabled. The translated post does not appear in the Translations menu, and the client is questioning whether the only way to publish is through the classic editor and how updates to the original post affect the translation.

Solution:
First, ensure that automatic translation is activated by following our documentation: Automatic Translation Setup.
If you're using the 'Translate What You Choose' option in WPML > Settings > Translation Mode, note that the 'Let me review it before it gets published' setting will not apply.
By default, translated posts are published automatically once the original post is published. This can be configured in WPML > Settings > Translated documents options. If you have selected 'Save the translated post as a draft', then you must manually publish the post.
To publish a draft, switch to the secondary language and click on the 'publish' button in the backend editor of the translated page.

Hello,
I have a question about the workflow of translations, form adding a translation to publishing a post. On this site, I have enabled the automatic translation and this setting: Let me review it before it gets published.

When I add an translation for an existing post through the plus sign found at the wordpress menu Posts, it takes me to the advanced editor, then I hit the automatic translation button and I manually edit some of the fields, then I hit completed (green button - bottom right corner).

Now how do I publish this post? The post doesn't appear in the Translations menu. The only way to publish this post now is through the classic editor. Is this the correct way? What if the post in the original language gets updated - does this mess up update of the translation through the advanced editor, or not?

Thank you.

Hello,

Thank you for getting in touch with WPML support.

May I inquire if you have activated automatic translation? You can find information on how to do this in our documentation at this link: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/. If you are using the "Translate What You Choose" option located in WPML > Settings > Translation Mode, please be aware that the "Let me review it before it gets published" option will not be applied.

In most cases, when you've translated a post, it will be automatically published. You can configure this setting in WPML > Settings > Translated documents options by selecting "Publish the translated post when the original is also published (default)". Unless you have specifically chosen "Save the translated post as a draft," the newly translated post will not be saved as a draft but rather published automatically.

I hope this clears it up.

Thank you for your answer. So when I have enabled the "Save the translated post as a draft " in the Settings > Translated documents options, the only way to publish the post, which is now a draft, is through the classic editor (and it cannot be done through the review button, because it doesn't appear in the translations menu either), right? Thanks.

Thanks for your reply.

When you are referring to the "classic editor", are you referring to the backend editor of the translated page which is in "drafts"? Yes, you need to manually switch to the secondary language and click on the "publish" button to publish the drafts page.
