Hello,
The Advanced Translation Editor breaks my text into fragments, even though I have activated the "I prefer bigger segments" option.
This creates significantly more work for us, as we have to copy already available translations into dozens of separate fields instead of just one (for example, for pages such as the Privacy Policy, Cookies, and similar content). It was much easier to work with the old Classic Translation Editor.

Could you please consider providing an update that fully supports this option? If I place the entire text into a single text widget in Elementor, the translation editor should allow me to enter the translated text into a single corresponding widget as well.
Thank you in advance for your time

Hello,

Thanks you for contacting WPML Support. I am Roel from the ATE Development team who is working on your issue.

We are continuing to improve the "I prefer bigger segments" functionality.

In the meantime, could you please specify which website which you have had issues with when using the "I prefer bigger segments" functionality, is it hidden link" target="_blank">hidden link;?

Also, would be helpful if you could give us the urls of jobs with issues. You can copy the url on the "Address Bar" when opening the job on the ATE Editor.

Regards
Roel

Hi Roel,
Thank you for getting back to me.

The page is hidden link - but the issue refers to all pages of all clients as our translation team delivers us all textes that we have to copy in the single segments.
Here the URL of the page to be translated: hidden link
Please note that this page has not been translated yet, as we would like to avoid filling in 85 segments manually. We aleeady habe the complete translated and formatted text - in the old Classic Translation Editor we simply copied the whole text in one single segment and the job was finished.

We really hope this option is going to be implemented as soon as possible, as entering translations with the new ATE is becoming a huge work for us.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Regads,
Lara

Hi Lara,

This is Luis from the ATE development team. I’ll be assisting you while Roel is away.

I’ve reviewed the example you shared. Unfortunately, those segments are separated because they belong to different HTML elements (such as lists, paragraphs, etc.). The ATE editor handles each text element independently, so we’re unable to merge them into a single segment.

Previously, a single paragraph could be divided into multiple segments. With the “bigger segments” feature, an entire paragraph is now grouped into one segment. However, when it comes to lists, headings, or other Gutenberg elements, they must remain as separate segments.

Have you tried using automatic translation? It can save you a significant amount of time. Alternatively, you can edit the translation directly in WordPress. Simply go to the page and, in the “Translate this Document” section, select the WordPress option.

Kind regards,
Luis

Thank you Luis,

I understand. We already have all texts translated, so we need no automatic translation at all.

Is there any way to translate plain HTML widgets created in Elementor? This would be a quick and easy solution for our issue: we would enter the German text (standard language) with all html attributes in the HTML widget and then paste the same text in the html "translation" in the other languages. But as far as I can see, HTML widgets are not sent to translation at all...

Thanks
Lara

Hi Lara,

Sorry for the delay.

Since WPML 4.9, Elementor widgets are detected automatically (please see this release note). However, if you encounter any issues, you can check how to register custom Elementor widgets in WPML.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,
Luis
