We are using automatic translation on our multi-website and the texts of our Block Element - Repeating Field. However it is not always working and on some pages the text on the repeating field is not translated.

We already tried to solve the situation by checking through the previous tickets and the solutions on WP'ML website but it is not working for us.

Is there maybe an additional setting that we can use or a solution for that kind of issues?

Hello Osama,

As I mentioned, we are using automatic translation in one of our multi websites. But the translation is somehow not working all the time for one of our content elements that has different sections such as the "Services" section (tab) that has the function of add field (repeating field). (screenshot 1).

The translation was not working for this field of "Services" section on every page. The confusing thing was for us that it was working with the same ACF settings on some other pages on our same multi-website such as the landing page (screenshot 2).

We tried all suggested solutions on WPML forums and also tried to create a new page and use the element again, but it was still not translating the text in fields on "Services" tab.

We somehow tried everything and solved the issue in a very weird way. In ACF settings we set the main settings of "Services - Wiederholung (Repeating)" (screenshot 3) on "Nicht Übersetzen" (Do not translate) and the sub settings of this specific sections such as "title" and "text" on "übersetzen" (translate) and it somehow worked out (screenshot 4).

But we believe it is not a very efficient solution for this situation since the translation was only not working on some pages and not all. Now we are also concerned that these changes we made will affect the elements that were actually translated properly on some pages.

Our concern is more about the future similar problems. Is there any specific ACF settings that we actually should use for this kind of complex content elements to avoid the translation errors? Could you please suggest us some sustainable solutions?

Thanks for your explanation. You use the Expert mode in your field groups, so please check the following guides:

2) https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/translate-sites-built-with-acf/recommended-custom-fields-translation-preferences-for-acf-and-wpml/

3) https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/translate-sites-built-with-acf/translating-acf-blocks-with-wpml/

The above guides contain recommendations for field translation preferences. If the recommended translation preferences didn't fix the issue, please let me know to provide a sandbox site where you can import your field groups and replicate the issue for our compatibility team to check it further.

Unfortunately, we already tried every possible solution that has been shared and couldn't solve the problem. That would be perfect if we can have the option to import our element on the sandbox site so your compatibility team can check it further.

After that, please create a test page using the problematic block and translate it to replicate the issue.

Dear Osama,

thank you again for your last message and the suggestions.

Unfortunately, the issue we were facing in our multisite is now somehow spreading to other content elements as well. Some are translated and some are not. Automatic translation is somehow not working efficiently.

Is there a possibility to have a video call with technical support as soon as possible so we can share screen and show the issues and explain them better in this way? Because apparently it is a complex error that we are experiencing and it is not easy to explain everything in a support ticket.

In the attachment there are some examples.

Dear Osama,

Would it maybe also an option if we provide an access in the backend and send the links and explain the issues as bullet points?

If it can be an option bellow issues in written form and some links that the issue appears.

Issues:

-Multisite problem
-Repeat element problem
-Translation history: Show that the translations concerned were last automatically translated months ago.
-Queue: show that the content to be released in the queue has also already been filled in incorrectly.
-Caching: Address the suspicion that the error is caused by page or translation caching (the language with which the affected page is accessed after the cache has expired wins)
-Deleting all caches on the WPML settings page does not lead to a solution
-Workarounds with activating/deactivating automatic translations work in the short term, but are by no means a long-term solution
-Workarounds in general (such as adding a space and saving again) are at best a short-term treatment of symptoms, but not of the actual (unknown) problem

Thanks for the access details. I checked the issues one by one, and the following are my findings:

1) The first page's issue was that the HTML markers were not set correctly, so editing the markers in the translation editor fixed the issue. (Kindly check this hidden link)

2) The second page issue might be a caching issue because I updated the page in the default language and its translation without any change, which fixed the issue.

thank you for your help but now some parts of other elements are somehow not translated on these pages.

I believe there is another issue on these pages. Because on the Download Center Page (4th page) hidden link it worked after your fix.

Could you please help us further?

Hi,

Please try the following steps:

1- Take a full backup of your site
2- Edit the field group containing these headlines (hidden link)
3- Select "Same fields across languages" translation mode
4- Save the field group
5- Edit the page in the default language (hidden link)
6- Make a minor edit to the headlines
7- Update the page
8- Update the translation

Kindly let me know if the above steps fixed the issue.
