Hello There,
Thanks for contacting WPML Support.

I have checked the Archive page and understood the issue. Given that you're using the Uncode theme, if the contents in the Archive page have been added using the Content Block of Uncode, please ensure that the Content Block has been translated properly into other languages.

Please go to the "Content Block" section from your WordPress dashboard to check the translation status. If they are translated, you'll see a Pencil icon. otherwise, icon like "+" or Wheel or update may appear there.

If the content block has been translated and you're still having the issue, please make a small change in the default content block and retranslate the block. I hope it will help.

However, if the content was added through a different method, please inform me about how it was added. If you can share some screenshots, that will help a lot. I will then review and advise you on the subsequent steps.

Looking forward to your response.

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Hi Maximilian,
Thank you for trying out the suggestions.

As the issue persists, a closer inspection will be required to understand the root cause of the issue.

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to have a testing site where the issue is replicated.

You will find the needed fields below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter will be private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I’ll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content. Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site. Let me know if this is ok with you.

IMPORTANT
-Please backup site files and database before providing us access.
-If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this:

Looking forward to your response.

Best Regards,
Prosenjit

Hi There,
Thanks for sharing the access information.

While investigating, I encountered an error within the "Plugin" section of WordPress stating:

"WPML could not load configuration files, which your site needs." [ View Screenshot: hidden link ]

Upon inspecting the "WPML > Support" section, I discovered logged errors indicating:

"cURL error 7: Failed to connect to cdn.wpml.org port 80: Connection timed out"

This issue typically arises from an outdated PHP cURL extension and it could be the root cause behind the issue you're experiencing in displaying the category description. Please ensure your server is equipped with at least version 7.34.0 of the cURL extension. For further details, please check this errata: https://wpml.org/errata/wpml-could-not-load-configuration-files-which-your-site-needs/

Please check this response for more details about the issue: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/wpml-could-not-load-configuration-files-which-your-site-needs-47/

If you are uncertain about how to update this, please reach out to the hosting support and discuss about this matter.

Please also make sure to update the Uncode theme and its bundled plugin to their latest version.

Please let me know the update. I will be happy to help if you need further assistance in this matter.

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Hello There,
Thank you for the confirmation.

Upon further inspection, I found that updating the slug for the translated category and clearing the object caches from the site effectively resolved the issue. The category description now correctly appears in other languages. For a clearer view, please refer to this screenshot from the German category archive: hidden link

I've also checked and verified that the category descriptions are properly translated into the other languages as well.

If you ever encounter the issue again, please try the following, and hopefully, the issue will be solved after that.

- Please go to the "WooCommerce > WooCommerce Multilingual > Categories" tab and make sure that the Slug defined for each translated category is unique.
- Go to "Settings > Permalinks" and resave the Permalink Structure
- Clear the Object caches by going to "Settings > Object Cache".

Feel free to let me know if you need further assistance in this matter. I will be happy to help.

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Hello There,
Thank you for the update.

Given that the problem is occurring in a different category, it might be related to the object cache or the absence of a unique slug. To address this, please take the following steps and see if it resolves the issue.

- Please go to "Settings > Object Cache" and clear the object caches.
- Now, go to "WooCommerce > WooCommerce Multilingual > Categories"
- Modify the German version of the "Facebook" category to ensure its slug is unique. For the German translation, consider using the slug: facebook-de. Save the changes.
- Once done, go to "Settings > Permalinks" and resave the permalink structure
- Clear the Object cache again and check from the incognito or private window of the browser.

If it works, you can apply the solution in the same way on the other sites where you're having the issue. Please let me know how it goes. I will be happy to help if you need further assistance in this matter.

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Hello There,

I totally can understand the situation, but it appears the issue isn't occurring across all categories in every language. The problem specifically arises with certain categories that have a slug identical to the slug assigned in the default language. According to WordPress guidelines, a slug should be unique and not reused, as duplicate slugs can lead to potential issues.

Source: hidden link.

I updated the category slug based on your previous message, and now the description is displaying correctly. If this issue happens again with a different category in another language, kindly update the slug to ensure its uniqueness, following the guidance provided in my earlier responses. I hope you can understand.

If there is anything else you need help with, feel free to let me know. I will be happy to help.

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Hello There,

I appreciate your perspective and understand the situation. As highlighted in my previous message, the issue appears to stem from the use of identical slugs. Typically, when translating Product Taxonomies with WooCommerce Multilingual, a unique slug is automatically assigned to each taxonomy term, even if the translation of the slug is omitted. It seems that the slugs for some categories on your site might have been manually changed, leading to this inconsistency.

I kindly request you to update the slugs of the taxonomies where you're having the issue to ensure they are unique, and then re-saving the permalink structure. This method is the most straightforward approach to solving the problem.

Let me know if there is anything else you need help with. I will be happy to help.

Best regards,
Prosenjit
