Background of the issue:
I want to create a simple translation of a variable product. I created a new variable product, added attributes, and generated variations. After saving the product, I clicked on the + icon in the translation tab to generate an ENG language product. I set a name for the ENG language product and saw that the variations were copied nicely. However, when I went back to the original EST language product, the variations were deleted. Link to a page where the issue can be seen: hidden link
Symptoms:
The variations from the original EST language product were deleted after creating a translation. The ENG language product has variations that are locked since they are a translation.
Questions:
Why are the variations deleted from the original EST language product after creating a translation?
How can I ensure that both the original and translated products retain their variations?
I will need to closely examine your website. Therefore, I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.
Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.
Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.
✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.
I've checked and to fix this, navigate to WPML > Settings > Post Types Translation > Configure "Variations" to Translatable - use translation if available or fallback to default language as shown in the attached screenshot.
Then, you'll be able to translate the variations.
