We are facing an issue related to media duplication for translated content (WPML).
Scenario:
1. The default English version of the page uses a featured image hosted on an external Azure Blob Storage URL.
2. The French (FR) translated version is a duplicate of the same page/post created via WPML.
Issue:
1. On the English version, the featured image loads correctly from the Azure server URL.
2. On the French version, the same featured image is instead trying to load from the local staging uploads directory (/wp-content/uploads/...), which results in a broken image.
3. This indicates that the media is not being referenced consistently across translations and may be getting duplicated or remapped incorrectly during translation.
Expected behavior:
The translated (FR) version should reference the same external Azure media URL as the original English version, not attempt to load a local/staging copy.
Featured images should remain consistent across languages when using external media storage.
Thanks for your reply. Here is the ticket and I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.
Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.
Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.
✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.
