Background of the issue:
I switched from the outdated editor to Advanced Translation Editor using the given documentation page.

Symptoms:
I cannot access any of my translations at all. I get an error (translated from German) 'WPML can not translate this page. Try again'.

Questions:
Why can't I access my translations after switching to the Advanced Translation Editor?
How can I resolve the error message 'WPML can not translate this page. Try again'?

Thanks for contacting us. It looks like the translation got stuck. Please try the method mentioned here https://wpml.org/faq/translation-status-stuck-or-displaying-the-error-wpml-didnt-manage-to-translate-this-page/ and see if it helps.

In the meantime, please backup and update all WPML plugins.

Hi Kor
Thanks for your reply.

I checked the translation queue accordingly. The translation of the homepage itself was stuck, I deleted this as requested.
Tried the translation again and I still can not translate.

So my problem is still not resolved. What shall I do next? Please note that I do have a backup (we do this on a regular and automated basis), also I requested an update from the webmaster since I am not entitled to do it on my own.

I will need to closely examine your website. Therefore, I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.

Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.
