I tried lots of steps, nothing worked so in the end I changed the url of the hebrew page to hidden link
(the english page is hidden link)
I put a redirect on in Rank Math from the old url, however any old links that are cached for example in a clients whats app chat are still being diverted to the hebrew home page,eg the redirection is not working, it seems to be being intercepted.
Ideally I would like to get the hebrew slug to be as it was so that anyone clicking the old link gets to the correct page.
- Go to WordPress Dashboard > Pages
- From the top admin bar change the language to Hebrew.
- See if there is a page that has the slug of the old URL?
- If so please delete that. And make sure that you go to the trash section and delete any pages that are deleted there.
- After that, Go to "WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks".
- Click the "Save" button to flush the permalinks cache.
See if now you can change the slg of the Hebrew version to the old one?
I tried the steps you mentioned, plus different browsers, flushing caches after etc but it still didnt resolve the issue. In the meantime I deleted and recreated with a new slug and new redirection so now although the slugs are different that fine I will leave as is.
