This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is trying to add the Dari language as a custom language to their website using WPML and is concerned about a red 'X' appearing next to the Dari language in the admin area, fearing it indicates a configuration issue.
Solution:
We clarified that the red 'X' next to the Dari language does not indicate a problem with the language configuration. It is actually the button to delete the language and appears only because Dari is a custom language on the website. The website is correctly set up, and the client should not experience any issues with the Dari language.

If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your case, we recommend opening a new support ticket. We also highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Background of the issue:
I am trying to add the Dari language to our website hidden link using WPML. Since WPML doesn't support Dari, I am adding it as a custom language.

Symptoms:
A red 'X' appears next to the Dari language in our admin area, indicating there's a problem with its configuration.

Questions:
What can we do to fix the configuration issue with the custom Dari language?

Hello,

Welcome to the WPML support forum. I will do my best to help you resolve the issue.

We hope you are using the WPML Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) for translating your Posts and Pages.

The Dari language appears to be added correctly as a custom language. However, please note that there are some limitations when it comes to automatic translation for custom languages.

To help us investigate further, could you please share screenshots of the following sections:

- WPML >> Settings >> Automatic translation >> Which translation engines do you want to use?

- WPML >> Settings >> Translation Editor

Thanks!

Hi Bigul,

Thank you for looking into this. A screenshot of our Settings page is attached. Please note that we are not using automatic translations. We have editors we work with to produce the translations for us, therefore, it shouldn't be an issue.

What does the red X in the languages admin screen indicate? Will we still be able to implement Dari? If so, are there any precautions to take or additional tasks necessary for the language to render properly across our site?

Thanks,
Adrian

Hello there,

Thank you for sharing the details. The red X does not indicate any issue with the language, it's simply the button to delete the language. It only shows for Dari, because Dari is the only custom language in the website.

Your website is correctly set up and you shouldn't have any issues with the Dari language.
