Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate a paragraph to Spanish on my website: hidden link. The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link.
Symptoms:
Instead of seeing the translated text in Spanish, I am seeing the original English text: 'Soldiers Walk, the featured attraction of the park, is a 500-meter walk that pays homage to all U.S. wars and conflicts with 29 monuments and memorials in chronological order beginning in 1848.'
Questions:
Why is the paragraph not translating to Spanish?
How can I fix the translation issue on the page?
Additional background: The website is hosted in WP VIP which has a read-only file system. We understand the work around when using String Translation and have been able to use it. This issue though has nothing to do with String Translation.
This is the second time this has happened in a matter of weeks. The first time the issue apparently resolved on its own after being worked on for several days by WPML team.
Our plan is to deploy several sites with WPML, but this inconsistency and unreliability is making it very difficult. Our first 30 days expire on July 2th.
If by then there's no reliable solution for this issue we will have request a refund.
We are currently actively looking for alternatives to WPML.
It looks like there are some issues with the page HTML taggings that are causing this issue. I will need to closely examine your website. Therefore, I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.
Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.
Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.
✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.
