Background of the issue:
I am trying to make the Author info that appears at the bottom of the page translatable to French and then render it. I require translation for both the regular Biographic Info field and a custom User field created with ACF, user_description_long. The basic Biographic Info field renders on my templates with: $author_info = get_userdata ( $user_id ); $author_description = $author_info->description. I am following documentation from WPML: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/translating-user-meta-information-with-wpml/
Symptoms:
When I go to the String Translation area and go to the area "Can't find the strings you're looking to translate?" section, I do not get an option for Translate User Properties. The French side does not show the content rendered: hidden link
Questions:
Is there a newer method to make these fields translatable?
Where do I mark these fields as translatable?
Note: in ACF, my custom Extended Bio field that is attached to the User post type is called user_description_long, though it is set to "Translate," it does not get auto-translated.
Thanks for contacting WPML forums support. I'll be glad to help you today.
First of all, sorry for the late reply; it was due to a higher workload.
1) I would need to look closely at your site, so I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated.
Your answer will be private, meaning only you and I can access it.
❌ Please backup your database and website ❌
✙ I need your permission to deactivate and reactivate the plugins and themes and change site configurations. This is also why the backup is critical.
✙ I also need your permission to take a local copy of your site to debug the issue without affecting your live site.
2) Could you please share your Debug information with me?
You can read a detailed explanation about it here. (http://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support)
The debug info will give me much information about how your site is configured.
Best regards,
Osama
