Background of the issue:
I am trying to update a translation on my site hidden link using WPML. I added my translation, it is showing 100% complete, and I clicked Save and Complete. However, it's still showing the gear icon and says 'translation assigned to local translator'. When I look at translation jobs, it says that it is 'In Progress'. I have tried canceling the job and saving it again. I have also tried making minor changes to the original German version and saving the translation again, but it still does not work. Here is the latest entry in the error log: 2025/10/04 12:19:16 p.m. XLIFF Server Communication Die XLIFF-Datei konnte nicht gelesen werden. 431 161892408 {"downloadUrl":"hidden link"}

Symptoms:
The translation is stuck in progress, showing the gear icon and 'translation assigned to local translator'. Error log entry: 'Die XLIFF-Datei konnte nicht gelesen werden.'

Questions:
Why is the translation still showing as 'In Progress' despite being 100% complete?
How can I resolve the error 'Die XLIFF-Datei konnte nicht gelesen werden'?

Thanks for contacting us. Before we troubleshoot this further, please perform a full backup and then update all WPML plugins in WP > Plugins > Add new > Commercial Tab.

Then, make minor changes to the primary language page in question and retranslate the page. Let me know if this fixes the issue.

Thanks for your reply. I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.

Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.

Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.

✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.
