[Closed] Changing language on URL doesn’t update rest of the URL but does switch content language

Background of the issue:
On our site we noticed that if we change the URL language to another it does update the content but the URL still keeps the other language slug without updating it. Here for example on this page: hidden link if i change the 'it' to 'fr' the content will update but the URL will keep the Italian slug. This is causing some SE ranking issues and I'm wondering if it is some setting that needs to be changed as i noticed other sites don’t have the same issue.

Symptoms:
Changing the language in the URL updates the content language but does not update the rest of the URL, causing SEO ranking issues.

Questions:
Is there a setting in WPML that needs to be changed to update the entire URL when switching languages?
Why does changing the language in the URL not update the rest of the URL slug?
