Getting started with interlanguage and WPML

To send content for translation to interlanguage, install the following plugins on your website:

  • WPML Multilingual CMS – the core plugin
  • WPML String Translation – this plugin will allow you to translate interface strings

You can download them from your wpml.org account. If you do not have an account yet, you can create a new one by choosing WPML Multilingual CMS or Multilingual Agency plans.

Working with interlanguage via WPML

Here are the basic steps of working with WPML and interlanguage. For a full walkthrough, check out our page about using WPML with a translation service or interlanguage’s WPML page.

Connecting Your Website to interlanguage

First, you need to connect WPML with interlanguage. To do this, simply request your interlanguage API token by filling in the token request form on their website.

Sending content for translation

Once your site is connected to interlanguage, you can start sending your content for translation.

Receive a quotation from interlanguage

Interlanguage will get automatically notified about your request.

To receive an accurate quotation, that considers any repetition, just send your content via WPML to interlanguage. They will analyze it and send you a quote via email. 

If the language combination you need is not included in interlanguage’s  WPML service, just send them an email and they will add it. Interlanguage translates in all languages.

Receiving completed translations

  • You can set your web to receive completed translations automatically or manually. 
  • You can choose the automation to have completed translations published directly on your website. 
  • You can opt for an additional final check before publishing the translated pages. 

In both cases, you will be notified by email that the translations have been delivered so that you can plan your future activities.

Once done, your site is ready to receive completed translations.

Canceling translation jobs

Jobs can only be canceled by interlanguage.

Should you wish to cancel, for any reason, the translation of content sent from WPML to interlanguage, please bear in mind that:

  1. You cannot manually delete or cancel translation jobs from the Translation jobs panel
  2. The project can only be deleted by interlanguage. Please contact interlanguage directly to carry out this operation.

To cancel a job, all you need to do is send an email to interlanguage informing you would like to cancel the job and our project managers will process the cancellation. 

In your email, please indicate if you want to cancel the whole project or single jobs. Remember to mention the ID of the job/jobs you want to cancel.

Translating the Rest of Your Site

Once you’re done translating the content of your page, there could be untranslated texts in menus, sidebars, and similar places. No problem, you can use interlanguage to translate the rest of your site.
