Background of the issue:
I am trying to change the hreflang from en_GB to en for SEO reasons. Our en site is the global 'rest of world' site, and we have an en_US site for the USA. We are experiencing content cannibalisation issues.

Symptoms:
When we make the change in our preprod site, we get the notice: 'WordPress cannot automatically download translations for the following languages: UK - English (current locale: en) - suggested locale(s): en_ZA, en_GB, en_AU, en_CA, en_NZ. To fix, open "Edit Languages" and set the "default locale" values as shown above.'

Questions:
Can you advise how we can change the hreflang from en_GB to en without issues?

Hello,

Welcome to the WPML support forum. I will do my best to assist you in resolving the issue.

To help you faster, I have enabled the option to share debug information in this ticket. Please follow the steps in this link to provide it: http://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/

We assume you would like to change the en_GB language URL from: hidden link
to: hidden link, please confirm.

Also, please go to WPML >> Languages >> Site Languages >> Edit Languages, and share a screenshot of that page. This will help us better understand your current language settings.
