This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is unable to edit the default language URL to switch from a .eu to a .com domain extension for their English language site.
Solution:
If you're experiencing this issue, it's important to understand that this is not related to WPML but to how WordPress functions. Since the default language URL cannot be edited directly in WPML, you will need to migrate your entire site from the old domain (.eu) to the new domain (.com). We recommend following a guide on how to migrate your WordPress site to a different domain. You can find helpful articles by searching online, for example, Google search for WordPress domain migration.

Please note that this solution might be irrelevant if it's outdated or not applicable to your specific case. If this does not resolve your issue, we highly recommend checking related known issues at WPML Known Issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If you still need assistance, please open a new support ticket.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to change the default language domain extension for my site hidden link. The default language is English, currently on the .eu extension. We have acquired the .com extension and want to update the default English language to use the .com extension. However, the default language URL cannot be edited, only the secondary languages.

Symptoms:
The default language URL cannot be edited.

Questions:
How can I update the default language URL to use the .com extension instead of .eu?

Hi there.

This is not related to WPML but to how WordPress functions.

Being the default language, you will need to migrate your site from the old domain name to the new domain name.

I created a custom search URL for you so that you can quickly find some articles that show you how you can do that:
hidden link

WPML can only handle custom domains for secondary languages but the default one needs to be on the correct main domain.

I hope that you will find this information helpful.
