This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
If you're experiencing issues with weird URLs for your translated posts, such as URLs containing '__trashed' segments, we can help you address this.
Solution:
First, ensure that your WPML Multilingual CMS is updated to version 4.8.4 and that you have also updated the LiteSpeed Cache plugin. Next, clear the trash for posts to remove any residual data that might be causing URL disruptions. It's also crucial to translate the parent category 'Language Learning' into other languages and perform a Hierarchy Synchronization in WPML under Taxonomy Translation for Categories.
To correct the URLs for existing translated posts, edit the original post, switch to the other language using the language switcher at the top, and then update the link accordingly. Before making these changes, please back up your database to prevent data loss.
Additionally, you can manage category translations directly in WPML under Taxonomy Translation.

If this solution does not apply to your situation, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If issues persist, please open a new support ticket.

I have reviewed the issue you've encountered. At this point, I cannot determine why you received those specific URLs, as I haven't experienced a similar situation before. The setting in WPML → Settings → Translated Documents Options; the slug should be set to "Auto-generate from title (default)."

Are you able to replicate the issue by creating a new test post and translating it into another language?

Before proceeding, please complete the following steps:

1. Update WPML Multilingual CMS to version 4.8.4.
2. Update the LiteSpeed Cache plugin.
3. Clear the trash for posts.
4. Translate the parent category "Language Learning" into other languages.
5. Perform a Hierarchy Synchronization in WPML → Taxonomy Translation → Categories.

To resolve the current link issue, edit the original post, using the language switcher at the top to switch to the other language, then update the link accordingly. I have attached a screenshot for your reference.

Before making any changes, please ensure that you back up your database first.

Hi Andrey,

I have managed to do all the things above apart from translating the parent category - I am not sure how to do that?

Apologies,
Joel

Hi again,

I have just tried translating another post that is ready for translation and I am pleased to confirm that it has translated as expected, including the URL.

Hello Joel,

You can also go to WPML → Taxonomy Translation → Categories and translate it from there.

I have attached the screenshot for your review.
