When I checked your Website, I noticed that you've configured the ACF Field Groups as translated as shown in the attached screenshot. When you update the String Translation plugin, this option is set as "Not Translatable" which is why you're seeing duplicates. You can find this option in WPML > Settings > Post Types Translation.
I believe this resolves the duplicate issue you had there and please let me know how it goes.
