Background of the issue:
We are in the process of translating the website hidden link using WPML. We followed the full WPML documentation.
Symptoms:
1. All text boxes are marked blue, but the overall progress bar shows orange, preventing the translation from being marked as complete. 2. All text boxes and the overall progress bar are blue, yet the translation task still appears as 'in uitvoering', especially with Gravity Forms. 3. Translated items are not saved despite using the 'complete translation' or 'translation memory' buttons.
Questions:
Why does the overall progress bar show orange even though all text boxes are marked blue?
Why does the translation task appear as 'in uitvoering' despite the progress bar being blue?
Why are translated items not saved after using the 'complete translation' or 'translation memory' buttons?
See screenshot. And here an example for one of the other issues, everything is blue (items and progress bar) for the Gravity Form ‘Proefopstelling'. But here said form is still marked as ‘In uitvoering' (it’s the first item on top).
Before proceeding further, can you please try the following?
Take a full backup of your site and database before proceeding. It is highly advised to try these on a dev or staging site first, so your live site isn't compromised.
1) Update WordPress and WPML String Translation plugins to the latest versions.
2) Deactivate all plugins except WPML, String Translation, Gravity Forms and GFML.
3) Switch to a standard theme like 2024 or 2021.
4) Check for the issue if it still happens. Please also remember to clear caches between sessions.
5) Then start activating plugins one by one while keep checking for the issue. This way you 'll be able to pinpoint a conflict when & where it starts creating the problem.
6) If after activating all plugins you see that it still works fine, then switch to your theme and see if that's causing it.
Please let me know and I'll try my best to help you further on the matter.
I need to take a closer look at your site. So I request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP), preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated.
Your next answer will be private, to share this information safely.
Also provide detailed steps to reproduce the issue and links to pages in the admin and on the frontend.
IMPORTANT: Please take a complete backup of the site to avoid data loss. I may need to activate/deactivate plugins also.
I tried to reproduce the issue with "Proefopstelling" gravity form. Initially I could see that those are in progress, so I did the following:
- Canceled existing jobs for the form.
- Corrected my user (you provided for login) to have proper first name and last name.
- Added this user to Translators with language pairs (Dutch to all 3 langs).
- Sent the form for translation from Translation Mangement.
- Assigned to my user.
- Translated.
All went fine and I could complete the translation. I've recorded my screen, please find at hidden link. There are 2 videos:
- One showing the translation I did for the form in 2 languages (French and German).
- The other video shows the whole process of how to send for translation, assign to the translator and translate. I translated to English for this video.
Other than these I noted following:
- The users you've added as translators, are missing their first and last names. Although it shouldn't be a problem, but it is recommended that the user which are also the translators, must have first/last names and emails filled in their profile.
- There are a lot of out dated plugins active in the staging site. I'm not sure if that's the same case in your live site. In any case, it is highly advised to use latest versions of the plugins and theme.
Besides the above mentioned, I didn't try by changing anything in the site, as it worked fine for me. I also checked randomly a few other content.
I'll recommend by following the suggestions I mentioned above. And if you still run into the same issue, please let me know the pages or posts URLs (and titles) having this issue and I 'll happily check further.
