Background of the issue:
I am using WPML and Yoast SEO on my site hidden link. I have noticed that many of our non-English pages have a canonical URL pointing to the English version.

Symptoms:
Non-English pages have a canonical URL pointing to the /en/ version.

Questions:
Why are non-English pages having a canonical URL pointing to the English version?
How can we fix the canonical URL issue for non-English pages?

Hello,

Welcome to the WPML support forum. I will do my best to help you to resolve the issue.

We hope you have translated all the pages/posts into secondary languages. Does it happen with custom-added English languages(like en-au, en-gb)? Please share the URL of a couple of the pages having the issue for further checking.

Please note that if we duplicate a page (en-au or en-gb) from the English page, the canonical URL of the English page will be copied to it. Maybe this will be related to the following ticket.
