Translations.com is one of the largest providers of enterprise localization services and technology solutions. More than 5,000 global organizations employ Translations.com’s GlobalLink® Product Suite to simplify the management of multilingual content.
To be able to send files for translation to Translations.com, you first have to login to your wpml.org account, and download and install the following plugins on your website:
- WPML Multilingual CMS – the core plugin.
- WPML Translation Management – this plugin will allow you to connect to Translations.com.
- WPML String Translation – this plugin will allow you to translate interface strings.
If you do not have a wpml.org account yet, you can create a new one.
As soon as you get access to your wpml.org account, check our detailed step-by-step guide on how to download and install WPML. Please remember to register your site to receive automatic updates and gain access to Translations.com’s services.
Connecting your website to Translations.com
To connect WPML to Translations.com, all you need is your API Credentials.
Go to WPML -> Translation Management to select your translation method. Click the button Yes, show me the available translation services.
Scroll down to the Translation Management Systems section, locate Translations.com and activate it.
If you have an account, click Yes, I already have an account and enter your Project Director URL, username, password and project code on the following screen.
Requesting an account
If you clicked No, I don’t have an account, you will need to contact the Translations.com to create one.
Click on the “Get in touch” link located at the top right area of the site and choose an option to get in touch.
When the account is ready, you will receive a “GlobalLink Technology Configuration” PDF document with your account details. Your Project Director URL, username, password, and project code can be found in the PDF document.
Once you have your API Credentials, go to the Translation Services tab on the WPML -> Translation Management page. There, enter your Project Director URL, username, password and project code to authenticate Translations.com.
Congratulations! Your Translations.com account is now connected to your WordPress website.
Sending content for translation
Now, you are ready to send content for translation. For detailed steps, please visit our dedicated documentation page.
Receiving a quotation and authorizing your translation
Once your translation basket has been sent to Translations.com, follow the “Translation Jobs” link you are given in the confirmation message or click on the Translation Jobs tab. Then, click on the Batch name to be redirected to Translations.com’s GlobalLink director dashboard and complete the configuration of your project.
Receiving completed translations
As soon as a translation job is finished by Translations.com, it will be ready to be delivered to your website.
To download completed translations from Translations.com, go the WPML -> Translation Management page and click the Check status and get translations button at the top of the page.
Canceling translation jobs
If for any reason you want to cancel the translation of the pages sent from WPML to Translations.com, bear in mind that:
- You cannot manually delete or cancel jobs from the Translation Jobs tab on your website.
- You cannot cancel individual jobs; however, you can cancel a submission, including all the jobs in it, from the GlobalLink Project Director dashboard.
Depending on your workflow configuration, you might not be able to cancel submissions that are already in progress. Please, contact your Translations.com Account Manager for more information.
Once a submission is canceled, go to WPML> Translation Management and click the Check status and get translations button to refresh the status and see the changes.
As a result, WPML will remove all canceled jobs from the Translation Jobs tab.
Note: If you do not have access to the GlobalLink Project Director dashboard, please contact your Translations.com Account Manager.
