Background of the issue:
I am managing a development and production site setup where all changes are made on the dev site first, tested, and then the site's database and files are updated on production. This process occurs daily or several times a week.

Symptoms:
I am unsure about the correct way to register sites/keys for dev site licensing.

Questions:
What is the right way to register sites/keys for dev site licensing?

Hi,

before your ticket is assigned to one of my colleagues, please allow me to walk you through some initial debugging steps. This will help speed up the support process.

You can assign specific keys for staging and production by using a constant in your wp-config.php file. Each WPML license allows for 3 development keys in addition to the main license key.

For more details, please refer to this guide: Automatic WPML Registration for Different Environments.

Best regards,
Marcel
