Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate a post, but it is not linked to the original. I attempted to translate a post that was initially a duplication, and I translated it independently. However, it is not connected, and there is no option to connect it in the language section. The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link
Symptoms:
The translation is disconnected from the original post, and there is no option to connect it in the language section.
Questions:
Why is the translated post not linked to the original?
How can I connect the translation to the original post in the language section?
I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue.
It would be better to a testing site where the issue is replicated.
The information you will enter is private, which means only you and I can see and have access to it.
Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I'll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site.
This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content.
Once the problem is resolved, I will delete the local site.
**IMPORTANT**
- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields, this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields.
The problem is that there is a translation in progress using the Classic Translation Editor.
I suggest you to follow these steps:
- In Albanian (check the language switcher in the admin bar) go to Posts and search for the post with the issue
- Click on the gear icon
- Change the title so you can recognize it later, complete the translation and save
- In English go to Posts and delete the recently translated post (the one that you changed the title) and empty the trash
- Do the same for the English post (ISTL Albania Celebrates Its 2025 Graduates) as it also has a translation in progress.
- Make sure to set the WP editor for the original post as explained here: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/
- After this, you should be able to connect it to the already translated one
We did translate it yesterday by duplicating the albanian version and then on the new copy, we did duplicate the albanian into english and translate it there. And it was connected at first, but then our client sent us a message and told us it was dissconnected once again. Please make sure you take a look into it, and let us know if you need anything from us.
Once the translation gets disconnected again, please let me know when it happened and provide me with access again, the credentials shared are no longer available.
