This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is setting up WPML on a site and encountered issues with 'too many redirects' and difficulties in the translation editor where it shows 'Untranslated: 1' without specifying the field. Additionally, the English homepage is not displaying correctly and redirects back to the default Serbian language.
Solution:
Firstly, ensure that Serbian is set as the default language, which it already is. The homepage was initially created in English and then translated into Serbian and German. If the homepage is edited using the WordPress editor instead of WPML's Advanced Translation Editor, switch it back using the pencil icon. To resolve the issue in the Advanced Translation Editor, click on one of the German translations and then click outside of it. This action should mark the translation as 100% completed, allowing you to proceed.

If this solution does not resolve your issues or seems outdated, we recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Background of the issue:
I am in the process of setting up WPML on a site under development. Initially, I faced a 'too many redirects' error, which was resolved after translating the homepage. I have set Serbian as the default language and need to ensure Serbian Latin is considered during the setup.

Symptoms:
In the translation editor, I receive the message 'Complete the translation of all sentences, then finish the job', but it also shows Untranslated: 1 without indicating which field is untranslated. Additionally, the English homepage is not displaying correctly and redirects back to the default Serbian language.

Questions:
Could you assist in identifying which field remains untranslated in the translation editor?
How can I configure the English homepage to display correctly without redirecting to Serbian?
Can you ensure that Serbian Latin is taken into account during the setup?
I Want Serbian as default.

Hi, and thanks for the access details.

The link you sent me to the Advanced Translation Editor is not working.
Please send me a link to one of the pages with this problem.
For example, the editing screen of the homepage:

You asked: "Is Serbian Latin fully supported and working well with WPML?"

Serbian is supported.
Is there a difference between regular Serbian and Serbian Latin?
I see regular Serbian on your site.

Itamar.

I am getting the same error on the German translation link as shown in the screenshot.

Is there a difference between regular Serbian and Serbian Latin?
=> Yes there’s a difference, but it’s not about the spoken language itself — it’s about writing system.

Serbian (Cyrillic) → Traditionally, Serbian is written in Cyrillic script (Српски). This is considered the official script in Serbia’s constitution.

Serbian Latin → The exact same language, but written in the Latin alphabet (Srpski).

Example:
Cyrillic: Србија
Latin: Srbija
(Both mean “Serbia.”)

-----------
English home page is also not working, it redirects to the Serbian homepage.

Hi,

Serbian is the default language of your site. However, the homepage (the page with the issue addressed in this ticket) was created in English and translated into Serbian and German.

The reason I could not edit the translation using the link you sent me is that it is set to use the WordPress editor, not WPML's Advanced Translation Editor. Please see the attached screenshot. If you have not made any changes to the translation using the WordPress editor, you can switch it back to the pencil icon.

I was able to resolve the issue with the inability to complete the translation in the Advanced Translation Editor from our end. What you need ot do is click on one of the translations in the German side, and leave it, meaning click outside it. Then you will see that the translation is 100% completed, and you can proceed.

Can you please confirm that it is working for you?

I was able to translate the FAQs page successfully, and its URL is working correctly. However, I am still facing an issue with the homepage. The English homepage link keeps redirecting me to the default Serbian page.

Could you please help me set up the homepage properly so that Serbian remains the default language, and English and German are configured as the secondary languages?

Here I have provided the link for the FAQs that I created.

Hi,

I'm glad the issue has been solved.

You wrote: "The English homepage link keeps redirecting me to the default Serbian page."

Are you referring to the Home link in the footer?
Please see the attached screenshot.

My English home page wasn’t opening before, but now it’s working.

The /en page is opening properly now.
