Background of the issue:
I am trying to understand how the 'Preserve URL Arguments' feature works in WPML. I want to know if I need to add all the link arguments manually and how to determine what those arguments should be. I am using the WooCommerce plugin, which adds the 'pay_for_order' argument.
Symptoms:
No specific issue or error message mentioned.
Questions:
How does Preserve URL Arguments work?
Do I need to add all the link arguments manually?
How can I find out what the arguments should be?
How do I know what else to add besides the 'pay_for_order' argument?
Welcome to WPML support. There is no automatic way to determine what arguments are needed to be preserved.
You will need to identify the parameters in the original language and add the arguments in WPML > Languages > Language switcher options > Preserve URL arguments
That is a comma sepeoarted list. So for your scenario as a one parameter you would only add:
pay_for_order
And then you would click outside of the box to auto save.
But if you had more than one, for example `hello` then it would be like this:
Hi, thanks for the information. Do you have a list of URL arguments for Woo? I only found out about the pay_for_order argument when I checked the payment for the order. I think it's wrong to wait for an error to happen.
If there is any sort of issue that you experience please clarify and we will be happy to help.
