This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are experiencing an issue with WPML while updating translations on your website. After making changes in the main language using Elementor and translating the page with the WPML Editor, the translation is marked as 100% complete. However, the translated page doesn’t display the changes, and the translations sidebar shows a cog icon, indicating a potential issue.
Solution:
First, ensure that the issue is not caused by a plugin conflict by setting up a staging environment and deactivating all plugins except WPML. If the problem persists, switch to a default theme like Twenty Twenty-One to check if the issue is related to the theme. This step-by-step approach helps identify if third-party code is interfering with WPML's functionality.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, it might be due to the server configuration, specifically the

max_input_vars

setting, which could be set too low. Adjusting this setting on your server might resolve the problem.

If the solution provided here becomes irrelevant due to updates or does not apply to your specific case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If issues persist, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum for further assistance.

Background of the issue:
I am experiencing an issue with WPML while trying to update translations on my website. After making changes in the main language using Elementor, I translate the page with the WPML Editor. The translation is marked as 100% complete, and I hit 'Save and Close.' The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link.

Symptoms:
The translated page doesn’t display the changes, and the translations sidebar shows the cog icon, indicating a potential issue with the translation.

Questions:
Why are the changes not reflected on the translated page after marking it as 100% complete?
What does the cog icon in the translations sidebar indicate?

Hi,

I would need to review the exact sync status of the page in your backend.

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to a testing site where the issue is replicated.

You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I’ll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content. Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site. Let me know if this is ok with you.

IMPORTANT
-Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
-If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this:

Hi,

It seems the page can never be marked as finished—the same state keeps reappearing even when I assign the job to myself.

Additionally, since the UI on the job (e.g., the green progress bar) looks different, it’s possible that a third-party plugin is interfering and blocking the state change.

To troubleshoot, I recommend setting up a staging environment and deactivating all plugins except WPML. Then, try again to see if the issue persists. If it does, switch to a default theme like Twenty Twenty-One and test it once more.

This process will help determine if third-party code is causing the issue and allow us to see if there’s anything we can do to resolve it.

Best regards,
Marcel

Hi Marcel,

I found the issue that was responsible for the problem. It wasn’t a plugin conflict because other pages were working properly. The problem was the configuration of max_input_vars, which was set too low.

Thank you,
