Background of the issue:
I am trying to open the translated page using WPML. For example, the following link: hidden link

Symptoms:
I am unable to open the translated URL link. Instead of the expected page, I get a wrong page and cannot use WPML's translation function.

Questions:
Why am I unable to open the translated page?
How can I fix the issue with WPML's translation function?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting the support.

By looking at the URL hidden link, looks like there's some issue due to "index.php" in the URL, which shouldn't be the part of the URL. However, trying with it throws "file not found" error, while without it, I get a 404 not found error.

I get the same 404, for hidden link. Have you translated completely and published the home page?

Further, I recommend updating WPML plugins to the latest versions and try again. If this doesn't help, then please review your site's .htaccess file. You can try the following steps to check if issue is coming from the .htaccess:

IMPORTANT: Please take full backup of your website and database beforehand.

It is highly advised to try this on a staging/dev site first, so your live website isn't compromised.

- Rename .htaccess file to something else (i.e. 1.htaccess).
- In WP Admin, go to Permalinks setting.
- Just hit the save button without making any change.
- Clear all caches and check again.

Please let me know your findings and I'll try my best to help you further on the matter.

Regards.

Hello, thank you for your reply
I searched for the htaccess file, but I found that it has empty content. I changed it to 1.htaccess according to the method you suggested.
But it has no effect and still cannot open the link.
I can't even open this link now hidden link
Please help me, thank you

I am using Nginx 1.22.1 server

Thank you for the updates.

I see that all of your pages are having index.php in the URL and without it in the URL, the pages 'll definitely throw 404 error.

Please remove "index.php" from the permalinks structure, resave and check again.
