This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are developing a new website and want to translate its content from English to Hebrew and Russian using WPML, with all content except product descriptions translated automatically. You also want to know if it's okay to update the translated product descriptions via the WooCommerce API and if WPML will try to update the uploaded translations automatically if the automatic translation mode is turned on.
Solution:
WPML's automatic translation translates all content on a specific page, and there is no built-in option to selectively exclude certain parts, such as product descriptions, from being translated. To customize this behavior, you can add your own logic using a filter. For guidance on implementing this, you can refer to two example approaches discussed in this forum thread.

If the solution provided here becomes irrelevant due to updates or does not apply to your specific case, we recommend opening a new support ticket. We also highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Background of the issue:
I am developing a new website and want to translate its content from English to Hebrew and Russian using WPML. I want all content except the product descriptions to be translated automatically. The product descriptions are already translated, and I plan to upload them separately via the WooCommerce API.

Symptoms:
No specific issue or error message mentioned.

Questions:
How can I arrange the translation so that all content except product descriptions is translated automatically?
Is it okay to update the translated product descriptions via the WooCommerce API?
Will WPML try to update the uploaded translations automatically if the automatic translation mode is turned on?

Hi,

WPML's automatic translation translates all content on the specific page. Unfortunately, there's no built-in option to selectively exclude certain parts from being translated.

The only way to customize this behavior is by adding your own logic using a filter. You can find two example approaches in this thread: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/automatic-translation-92/.

Best regards,
Marcel
