Background of the issue:
We are using the WPML plugin for translating our website. The translations are done from Croatian to English. The problem occurs when changes are made to the original Croatian pages. Initially, everything works correctly—the pages are translated and display properly in English. However, when we update the original Croatian page, the English translation is erased, and the page reverts to Croatian, as if the translation never existed.

Symptoms:
Before translating, all pages were duplicated using the Translation Management option in the plugin. For example, we duplicated the "About Us" page, renamed it in English, and translated all the content. But after making an edit on the Croatian version of the "About Us" page, the English version reverted all its content back to Croatian. We observed the same issue with several other pages when testing. The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link

Questions:
Is this a bug, or could it be a WPML setting issue?
What would you suggest as a solution?

Hello There!
I hope you're doing well.

Before this thread gets assigned to my colleague, I'd like to offer some initial guidance or potential solutions.

Content can only be overwritten under the following circumstances:

- The translation is not set to function independently.
- The "Overwrite" or "Copy" button is clicked during the translation process.

Could you please review the following guide and ensure that the "Translate independently" button is not visible in the translation?

If the button does appear, click on it to break the synchronization. Once done, the translation will no longer be overwritten on updating the default one.

If the translation was created using the Translation Editor, it should not be overwritten. So, if possible please try adding the translation using ATE or CTE and then check again. You can enable a translation editor from WPML > Settings.

Please give it a try and let us know how it goes. We'll be happy to help if you need further assistance in this matter.

Best regards,
Prosenjit
