This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client created a custom language for Austria and mapped it to German. However, the Austrian site still displays in Dutch, the default language. Additionally, 'Austria' only appears in the language switcher on product pages and is missing on other pages.
Solution:
We recommend the following steps to ensure the correct setup:
1) Create a new Post or Page in Dutch for testing purposes.
2) Navigate to WPML >> Translation Management Dashboard.
3) Select the newly created Post/Page.
4) Add it to the Translation Basket.
5) Go to WPML >> Translation Management >> Translation Basket.
6) Send the content for translation in German (Austria) by choosing yourself as the translator.
7) Access WPML >> Translations queue and translate the page by clicking the Translate button.

Hello,

I have just created a custom language for Austria. I want this language mapped to German. I have set this in the language menu, but when go to look at the Austria site, it is still displayed in the default (dutch) language.

Also, only under product pages 'Austria' appears in the language switcher. On all other pages, it is not listed here.

Hello,

Welcome to the WPML support forum. I will do my best to help you to resolve the issue.

We hope you have automatically translated the posts/pages from Dutch to German(de_AT). Does it happen for all the posts/pages?

Please visit WPML>>Translation Management>>Tools>>Language mappings and share a screenshot of it for more details. Refer to the following article for more information.

Thank you for your response!

All German translations were made manually. I then created a custom language for Austria, then mapped it to German, however, the site is still displayed in the default language.

See below a screenshot of the settings.
