Background of the issue:
I am using WPML on my site hidden link. After implementing WPML, my site stopped indexing on Google. I have tried searching for specific posts directly on Google, but nothing appears. I have also removed the Estonian language, but WPML still indicates that I have Estonian pages.
Symptoms:
Site stopped indexing on Google after using WPML. Google search for specific post URLs returns no results. WPML still shows Estonian pages after removal.
Questions:
Why is my site not indexing on Google after using WPML?
Why does WPML still show Estonian pages after I removed the language?
If you're still having issues configuring this properly and your website is still not showing up on search engines, you can contact their support team for further assistance.
I checked all settings and they are correct. Also all our sites are with same settings but they are indexable.
One thing I found out we deleted Estonian language but it does not remove itself from database its just loading and never ending. Followed other support posts aswell, upgraded memory limit, disabled cache plugins etc etc, but it just keeps loading and does not remove the language.
I disabled other languages to prevent them going to Google so I could get only english page indexing but still none of the products or posts are coming out of Google even if I directly search for certain product or post name.
Thanks for your reply. It looks like the deletion got stucked.
I will need to closely examine your website. Therefore, I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.
Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.
Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.
✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.
I've successfully removed most of the Estonian language content, which you can see here: hidden link . However, for the remaining traces of Estonian, you will need to reactivate the language and delete the data manually. If you're familiar with server databases (via phpMyAdmin), you can attempt to remove these traces directly.
Thank you. But can you see anything wrong that could couse no-indexing in Google? As the english site that is active right now is refusing to come out of Google. I disabled other languages right now to right now fully concentrate on english.
On our end with WPML, everything appears to be in order. I've gone ahead and updated the WPML plugins for you.
Regarding the indexing issues, typically, this is managed and configured within your SEO plugin. I recommend reaching out to their support team for further assistance.
