This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
If you're experiencing issues with the WPML translation editor getting stuck on the loading screen, it might be due to the size of the XLIFF file being too large. In your case, the file is 2.2MB, which exceeds the 1MB limit.
Solution:
We recommend checking the XLIFF file for any unnecessary data that could be inflating its size, such as Figma/Figmeta data, and removing or extracting this data before translation. If you need to switch from the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) to the Classic Translation Editor (CTE), here are the steps:
1. Navigate to WPML -> Settings.
2. On the settings page, locate the option for "Editor for new translations" and select "Classic Translation Editor."
3. After setting the editor to CTE, create a new translation job and follow the prompts to create a new translation job for the desired page.
For more detailed guidance, you can refer to our documentation on using different translation editors.

If this solution does not apply to your situation, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If issues persist, please open a new support ticket.

Background of the issue:
I just installed WPML and am trying to open the translation editor to start a translation. We have ACF installed and also installed the WPML ACF extension. We tried disabling all other plugins but the issue persists.

Symptoms:
The translation editor won't load and gets stuck with a 'page loading' view. The website back-end indicates that the translation is in progress but we can't access it.

Questions:
Why is the translation editor stuck on the loading screen?
Is there a compatibility issue between WPML and ACF, or another plugin?

XLIFF that is sent to translation editor exceeds 1MB. Since your current file is 2.2MB, you will need to reduce its size.

The XLIFF file appears to contain Figma/Figmeta data, which significantly increases the file size. Consider removing or extracting this data before translation.

You can try translating it using https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/#how-to-use-manual-translation or through CTE.

To switch from the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) to the Classic Translation Editor (CTE) in WPML, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to WPML -> Settings.

2. - On the settings page, locate the option for "Editor for new translations."
- Select "Classic Translation Editor."

3. - After setting the editor to CTE, create a new translation job
- Follow the prompts to create a new translation job for the desired page.

Thank you so much for helping to identify the problem. We believe this may have been caused by pasting text into the page from Figma. A huge thanks for helping us figure out the problem so quickly.
